DVBLink on DS211j can't see TBS5680

Postby klausagnoletti » Wed Feb 27, 2013 7:49 pm

Hi,

Topic says it all. I have a Synology DS211j and just got me a TBS5680 DVB tuner. Synology appears to be able to see it, DVBlink claims that no compatible tuners are connected to the system.

I have pasted relevant parts of dmesg. I am running DSM 4.2 beta.

What's wrong?

Thanks

/klaus

Disconnect tuner, power it down, reboot your NAS, when NAS is started - stop DVBLink Server package, connect power to tuner and tuner to NAS, start DVBLink Server package. Then it should be good.
Some background: we have seen that sometimes USB tuner and USB bus of a NAS "do not make friends" immediately and the reboot is needed.

Hi Oberon

After two reboots and one accidental reinstall of dvblink, it worked. Great!

Mabe you should write this specifically in the documentation if it is so common?

Thanks

Hi again,

This is some weird stuff. After initially getting the tuner to work, I was forced to disconnect it. And after that, I have been unable to make it work again. I have tried rebooting my NAS, disconnecting and connecting my tuner, connecting and disconnecting the antenna cable, stopping and even un- and re-installing the DVB link server package, both version 4.5.1 and 4.5.2 - a number of times - and no matter what I do, I get the same 'There are no compatible tuners detected on your system' error message.

This is driving me insane. I have no idea what to do.

Can anyone help me? All suggestions are welcome..

Thanks,

/klaus

Reboot NAS and then attach zipped dmesg output here.

Hi Oberon

Full dmesg? Should it be with the tuner attached and dvblink running?

Thanks

Either tuner is defect or there is some kind of incompatibility between NAS USB port and the tuner. You may try using another port or a USB hub.

Hi Oberon,

I tried both. No luck. I'll RMA the tuner at DVB Technology where I've bought it..

Thanks,
