Incorrect Aspect Ratio of all Channels

Postby sborgmt » Sat May 31, 2014 12:56 pm

Hi, I'm not a veteran with DVBLink, but I had enough time on it to confirm that I have a problem which I cannot figure out.

Running DVBLink 5.0 with an AVerMedia Cx23888 Tuner. My TV signal is analog, and I scanned for channels successfully but the output from DVBLink is always 4:3 instead of the correct 16:9. The problem is there is no way I can fix the aspect ratio in the transcoder (DVBlink through the browser) and the DVBLink on Android app. Both display at 4:3 and there is no way I can fix that.

My temporary solutions are VLC on both the PC and Android tablet as VLC allows me to stretch the picture back to 16:9

Does anyone have a workaround for this? I would prefer to use the proper DVBLink apps or interface as through VLC I'm missing EPG completely.

Thanks,
Stefan

I am afraid there is currently no workaround available. The output picture is always 4:3. When the original is 16:9, pan-scan is used to make 4:3 out of it.

Do you have in your plans to fix this? Analog channels are becoming more interesting since many cable-tv providers are moving to CI+ but leaving Analog open.

Hi,

I would really appreciate if someone could answer this one. From a technological point of view I understand that it seems like a step backwards to start to discuss the functionality of an analog product.

But believe me, with the no-solution for CI+ in cards and cable operators and broadcasters fast moving there the only hope for someone wanting to use your product will be that their cable provider is still sending analog in parallell.

Do you have any plan to fix this 16:9 issue? The product works really well except for this.

Did not want to disappoint you, but this issue is not on our short/mid term plans.

Hi,

Thanks for answering...yes you are disappointing me ;) and I hope that you soon will change your priorities. I am confident that the need for analog solutions will increase as CI+ takes over.
