Octopus NET - CI-module

Postby nilsga » Tue Dec 03, 2013 2:04 pm

Does TVSource support the CI-module of the Octopus NET-versions? If yes, how should it be configured?

No, TVSource does not support the Octopus.NET CI module at the moment.

Any timeframe to when this will be in place? I was hoping that the built in CI-module was decrypting the stream from the box itself, but that does not seem to be the case.

Not in the nearest future. The way how ci module is controlled in Octopus is different from other conventional CI systems, so it is not easy to implement.

There is no schedule yet. As I have written in my previous message the way how Octopus.NET CI is controlled is different from the "usual" way of doing it n general and doing it in TVSource in particular. So we have to wait until DD fixes the drivers for that and then we can offer Octopus.NET CI support.

Are there any news about this?
I just got my Octopus NET with CI modul this week (works great even with encrypted channels when using rtsp directly, but not with dvblink)
I'd really like to use dvblink software (also for recording) since I hope that channel switches in my xbmc frontend (running on a raspberry) are faster than when using SimpleIPTV client plugin in xbmc

Basically the answer is very simple - until DD changes its CI control API to be more conventional we will not be able to support it.

I really did not want to read this ;-(
Is there any way to use the octopus net tuners (in my case 4 dvb-s tuners) with any CI interface that is able to decode with dvblink (maybe a USB CI-Module - if something like this exists and works with dvblink)

I am really thinking of giving dvbviewer a try (which seems to support the CI interface of the octopus net), although I would have to buy a windows license in that case and although dvblink looks much better to me :-(

I've the Octopus Net already one year, but there is no usecase for me as long the CI is not support. So far I'm very disapointed that it takes so long to find a solution because VLC tunes the encrypted channels without any problems. Is this really an DD-issue? There must be any workaround possible?! It took me already days for testing different solutions (DVBLink on Synology and Windows as backendsystem / TV Source and IPTV / XBMC, WMC, DVBLink APP) without any success.

I Invested 430 EUR for the Octopus Net and another 30 EUR for DVBLink 4 and have to buy the upgrade to DVBLink 5 without beeing able to use it. Please don't misunderstand me, in my opinion 30 EUR for DVBLink it's more than worth it! But as long I cannot use the combination [DVBLink + Octopus Net + CI support] I regret that I bought it. So you might understand that I'm really looking forward to use the CI!

Thank you! :D Regarding DD all the other products (VLC, DVBViewer, DD-TV,...) use their CI API as it is. And it works well tuning encrypted channels, I've tested it myself. As long there is no official SAT>IP standard for server-side CI integration (there is only one for client based CI integration) DD will not change anything in the Octopus NET. It would be great if DVBLink also supports this. I'd be happy to have a working solution before christmas 2014 :D
