live TV stuttering / Discontinuities

Postby fraddel » Sat Dec 31, 2016 11:22 am

Hi all,

I am running DVBLink Server (6.0.0 Build 13314) with 2 TVButler tuners on LibreElec on a Raspberry PI 3 and using DVBLink Theatre on Amazon FireTV. Both TVButlers are connected via an external USB hub with power supply.

Video and audio on live TV is often (sometimes more sometimes less) stuttering for 0.5 to 1 sec and can see the discontinuities in the diagnostic tab on DVBLink Viewer. I have also tried to use Kodi (installed on the PI where DVBLink Server runs as well as seperately on the FireTV) and VLC as frontend. But this seems to make no dfference at all.

The only strange thing I can find in the log file is "[E] sink_configurator::get_timeshift_stats. Sink for handle 1 does not exist". (See log attached)

Does anybody have an idea? Thanks!

Try to disable the Timeshift function at the DVBLink PVR Addon Settings.

I am using DVBLink Theater app on my FireTV, not KODI. Maybe I am missing s.th. but I cannot find a setting to disable Timeshift in the DVBLink Theater app.

There timeshift is enabled by default and can't be disabled

After setting up a new OpenElec and DVBLink installation and adding <timeshift_path> entry in dvblink_configuration.xml pointing to an external USB drive instead of the SD card, stuttering seems to have disappeared (hopefully!).

The errors in the log-file are still there or better started to come up after approximately 2 hours.Could this be related somehow to the EPG loading? Yesterday EPG entries were empty and no errors in the log, this morning EPG entries have been loaded and the errors in the log show up, again...

I guess it is not related to the EPG. As for:
still there or better started to come up after approximately 2 hours

It could be that the buffer threshold was reached. There is 4 GB for timeshift buffer then file overwrites by server.
