hi encarta1973,

mount a share
you can do this in different way's .... linux like

my way:
sudo nano /etc/fstab
append following to the /etc/fstab file

for guest login
//nas-server/sharename /home/pi/share cifs guest 0 0
or for a password protected login
//nas-server/sharename /home/pi/share cifs username=yourusername,password=yourpassword 0 0

reboot and check the mount (df -h)

the recording path is in this case /home/pi/share

Some tests with simultaneously playing channels, RPI 2 as dvblink server, VLC on Windows as clients:
- two HD channels plays good, but when I add the third the picture starts to stutter, sometimes watchable for 5-10 seconds
- three SD channels but with hight bitrade(arte, einsplus ...) are play very good, when i add fourth the picture sometimes start to stutter
- the same behavior with records

Hello rwhome,

thanks for your hint and I'm sure it'll work out fine. But I'm struggling with the read-only permission of /etc/fstab... :(
Unfortunately I can't find guidance how to get it writable. Can you help one last time? :?:

Thanks again,
Volker

hi encarta1973,

the command sudo should give you root rights
user pi is one of the sudoers

open a ssh session or work on the console with a keyboard
login as user pi
and write for example
sudo nano
to open the editor nano with root rights ... like i have written

p.s.
i don't know which installation you have
i speak about wheezy ... no desktop
i normally start on a console with a keyboard and activate ssh for later changes
sudo raspi-config -> advanced options -> ssh
we are a little bit off topic here with this

After trying out several Option this weekend, I have found my perfect set-up:
RPi-2 with Openelec 5.05 and DVBLink 5.1.0. I had troubles getting the cable tuner PCTV 292e activated. But once I plugged it into the rPi-2 BEFORE starting the rpi the first time with a new SD Card it worked perfectly.
But then I did encounter that while recording on the sdcard a lot of Frames were skipped when recording HD.
Today I plugged in a 64GB ext4 formatted USB stick and use it as recording space.
Now it's perfect

Sounds good, I was just going to reply to your other post suggesting you try a stick or even 2.5" hdd
Can you give us a quick guide how you configured the stick?
Thanks!
Edit: pants, I thought you were using a satellite tuner, lol
Edit again: Ulli you were using the pctv 461e in the first page, lol Can you please confirm this is still working?

Hi
Thanks for the tests
Have you changed the settings in VLC at all? I having tried different versions of VLC over the years with windows 7 and windows 8 and I have never got as good a picture as Windows Media Center!
Some HD channels initially look good but the problem always seems to be with fast moving images and 'news' type channels when there is a 'information ticker' running along the bottom of the screen
Thanks!
PS I want to get rid of MC before Windows 10 as it looks like M$ might completely ditch it :-(

As i understand you, when the video has some fast actions - on it you get a horizontal line??
Edit: If Yes, - You can get rid of this behaviour, just enable deinterlacing option in VLC:
-video -> deinterlace -> On

Ahh, that's better thanks :D
BUT I also have to change the Deinterlace mode to Bob or Linear. Then when I change channel the Deinterlacing gets turned off again :cry:
Will play with the settings...

It would be nice if the Rpi 2 plugin was listed for download DVBlink.com. Also, under the clients tab it is not listed either. There is only mention of Server and not the Client plugin.

Where did you guys download the Rpi2 plugin, is it still the old PVR client plugin linked in my signature that you are using?
