5 usb Tuners on Raspberry Pi

Postby GiuseppeKK » Wed Jan 21, 2015 11:03 am

Hi,
I have 4 USB TV tuners and 1 Satellite tuner.
I need build a low power consumption streaming station and the Raspberry Pi board seems a good solution.

Is it possible to connect 3 TV tuners and 1 Satellite tuner or 4 + 1 and have DVBLink server manage everything ? Do you think there is enough computing power on the board ?

In case the answer is negative, which no fan/low power (Like RPi) solution do you suggest for this setup ?

I would not bet on RPi to do that.
From my experience it can handle 2 (max 3 under some circumstances) tuners, but no more than that.

Which mini setup would you suggest using your experience ?

Would an Atom Like CPU and a Nano ITX motherboard using linux be enough ?

Does the maximum of 2 TV-Butlers also apply for a RPi 3 ?

Bump. Is the max 2 TV-Buttlers also for a RPi3, or will that work with 3?

It will work with 3 tuners. But it also depends on SD or DH channels you want to stream.
RPI - is a quite interesting device, and it's performance may depends on power supply, SD speed, CPU overclocking, etc..
Need to make a tests directly on your RPI.
NETGEAR RNDU2000; Synology DS112j, DS 212j, DS213+, DS 712+; Western Digital WD ex2; Asustor AS3, RPI2 ...
