RAM requirements

Postby jydepotte » Sun Feb 28, 2016 10:38 pm

I have noticed that the TV_Server process uses a lot af memory ... upwards of 1,8 GB of RAM when running on my Qnap TS-670 PRO.

After a restart of the NAS the memory usage is significantly lower but after a while the memory usage is back to appx 1.8 GB.

Is this normal?

On my Windows Media PC the dvblink_server.exe uses appx 120 MB RAM.

It is ok. QNAP probably reports virtual memory set size, which is a very big number, but useless from the practical point of view.
Actual memory usage (e.g. residential memory set) is a lot smaller and is comparable to a windows figure below.

I was just wondering because I have experienced a lot of instability/crashes of the DVBLink Server. QNAP Ressource Manager reported that upwards of 96% of the 2GB RAM was being used when running DVBLink server.

I upgraded the server a week ago from 2GB to 8GB RAM which seems to have solved the issue.
