QNAP TS-253 Pro with HDHomeRun HDHR3

Postby derpaufler » Mon Feb 08, 2016 8:41 pm

Hello

I've made a lot of mistakes with incompatible tuners. That's the reason I'd like to ask you.

I have a QNAP TS-253 Pro and I'd like to check if the HDHomeRun HDHR3 is compatible with my QNAP. The DVBLogic Website says yes but has somebody experience with that?

How is the setup? Is the box streaming everything via Ethernet to my QNAP or is it directly connected via USB? Do I have to use the TV Source for IPTV otherwise?

Thank you very much!

Kind regards

It is a network tuner (not a USB), so it does not need a special drivers, better to use a TVSource for it. Also i would recommend you to try the TVButler (it is USB tuner, but it is only tuner that immune to NAS firmware changes)
As i know all HDHR tuners are supported by dvblink server, except HDHomeRun Prime (but there is a workaround on the Forum, using the tuner with IPTV source)

I've tried the TV Butler and it worked fine until I plug more devices to the QNAP than only the TVButler. I have 3x USB 3.0 Ports on my QNAP and I would like to use it. It seems that the TV Butler does not receive enough power or something like that. An powered HUB did not helped either.

Anyway, it sounds that the HDHR3 is compatible and a good choice. I need a device for Europe (Germany) so the Prime is not an option for me.

How is the setup? Which TVSource Package do I need in the DVBLink Server Settings? Has anybody experience with that?

Thank you the_man.

Kind regards

I have four TVButler tuners connected to the Synology NAS, and all works like a charm.

As for HDHR configuring - just connect the DVB-C cable to the HDHR tuner, connect the Ethernet cable and go to Source tab at the DVBLink web-UI, there should appear HDHR tuners. The configuration the same as for TVButler. You can even add a hdhr tuners as a slave(s) to the TVButler tuner (in order to get rid of new TVSources configuration)

Thank you for your reply. This helps a lot. I will try it with the HDHR3 :-)

Maybe the necessary difference is that you have a Synology and no QNAP. DVBLogic has answered to me that my problem is a well known problem and a hub should fix the problem but it didn't.

Anyway, they have refunded me the TV Butler so everything is fine.

Thank you!
