Trying to choose the tuner

Postby workbench » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:21 am

Hi!

I would like to ask about the support with DVBLogic TVSource for these three TV tuners:

1. Pinnacle 292e Triplestick
2. Technotrend CT2-4650
3. TVButler CT100

It seems that first two have otherwise the same chipset - only usb interface chips are different. How about the TVButler? Any idea about the chipset? Does it compare to first two options?
Are they all supported by DVBLogic TVSource? And how can it be that TVButler does not affect when NAS firmware changes?

I would go for TVButler, exactly becauseof the reason you said - it is supported everywhere where DVBLink runs and does not depend on kernel. This is because we use user-mode drivers for it.

Still - the question remains: is the support for the first two tuners Pinnacle 292e Triplestick & Technotrend CT2-4650?

These tuners are considered to be legacy tuners and their support varies between different NAS models. Also they will not be supported on newer NAS models.
If still in doubt, you can also go with a network tuner - hdhomerun or sat2ip. These are universally supported.
