Regularly Losing a TV Source

Postby paul608085 » Fri Apr 22, 2016 8:04 am

ReadyNAS104 with DVBLink 5.5.0, Triax TSS400 Sat>IP, Happauge WinTV Dual DVB-T USB stick.

I have been experiencing a problem for some time whereby after a while, (not sure exactly how long - could be a couple of days), the Hauppauge DVB-T USB stick becomes unavailable in TVSource: error = "Device is not present" for both tuners. The Triax SAT>IP is always still there.

The DVB-T USB stick is currently plugged into the ReadyNAS' front USB socket, but the same thing seems to happen with the rear sockets as well.

Rebooting the ReadyNAS always brings the Hauppauge back to life, but it appears to be going into a standby mode regularly. Is this caused by the ReadyNAS firmware or DVBLink? How can I prevent it from happening?

TIA

Paul

The issue you have described usually happens due to the USB port (due the low power in the port). It can be solved with the powered USB HUB.
Anyway, Please, Set log level to info, restart dvblink server, reproduce the issue and attach zipped log files here.

I have set the log to info and rebooted the NAS as requested. It may take a while to fail though!

I did wonder if the USB ports on the Netgear would be up to powering the USB Tuner when I first set up DVBLink so I used to run it through a powered USB3 hub, but that is where I first noticed the problem. Ironically that is why I tried plugging the USB stick straight in to the ReadyNAS! I suppose that the USB3 hub could be faulty - I'll see if I have got another powered hub lying around anywhere.

Thanks for the advice.

After setting the log to info and rebooting as previously advised, DVBLink failed to detect the Hauppauge DVB-T stick plugged in to the ReadyNAS front socket. Note that this is a failure to detect on initial boot, rather than a loss after a period of time.

Log attached, is this of any help?

TIA

Yes, please try another USB hub. And the USB3 hub could be the issue as well, as only TVButler works with the USB3 and USB2. Other tuners work only with the USB2.0
