Safe to upgrade to 6.4.2 (arm)?

Postby SmartyMarty » Mon Feb 08, 2016 5:11 pm

Has anyone successfully updated their ReadyNAS 10x to 6.4.2 with DVBLink working OK?

I have just been offered this update for my RN104. Just about every previous update has "broken" my Hauppauge WinTV USB stick, so I'm going to pass on this one for quite a while.

So, i can confirm that the x86_64 works after firmware upgrade as before. (Only tbs DVB-C tuners do not work, and PCTV, TT, TVButler ... works)

Isn't it usually related to whether NetGear have changed the Linux Kernel? Their release notes talked of security updates to the kernel, but were less specific about version numbers...

I believe that they use the same version numbers on arm and x64 - but then they introduced the 200 series, which (I believe) does something different again.

FYI - The answer is NO. Once again I get "Device not present" on the setup/sources page, even after a couple of reboots.

I was able to downgrade back to 6.4.1 and all was OK.

NB - The first reboot after upgrading the firmware took an extended period, so I think something has changed which requires the OS to do some data validation/updates (snapshots? antivirus?)
FYI I have an 292e stick running on a ReadyNAS 104.

Hi Mueckerich,

You can downgrade to 6.4.1 (or even 6.4.0) by downloading the older firmware from the Netgear website:
http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... .1-arm.zip

Unzip, and then upload the file from the "Manual Install Firmware" section on the Settings page.

Hope that helps.

OK it's working.

But I had to reboot several times and repair the 12450 installation, which is a pain - as I lose (again) the corrections to the transponder file.

You can save (make a backup) of edited transponder file. So, in any case you will be able to restore this file.
