Systray icon for recording status

Postby beeswax » Wed May 11, 2016 2:57 pm

Whenever I need to reboot my PC, I have to launch Chrome, open the DVBLink page, got to schedules, possibly change the view mode to sort by date and then I can see if it's safe to reboot without interrupting a recording. It would be really handy if I could tell at a glance if a recording is in progress. The best way I can think to do this is to have an (optional of course) system tray DVBLink icon. Some indistinct colour e.g. grey if not doing anything and red if recording.

On the same subject, what mechanism is it that some apps use that gives them the ability to halt a shutdown/reboot and bring up a message saying "Application X is preventing windows from shutting down - [Reason]. Reboot anyway?". Would be cool if DVBlink could employ that whenever a recording is active.

Hi.

Same thing here. But there is a simple and maybe better solution for this.
I am using on windows, program called rainmeter that can put widgets on desktop.
So in rainmeter you can simply create your own widget that will connect to your dvblink server, extract recording info (in progress timers, defined timers etc.) and you can add that info on top of your desktop, ex. :

In case there is recording in progress it will show you that info. Basically you can request from dvblink server and show it on desktop whatever you want. It is not to complicated via rainmeter. If you are using linux machine as a client you can do the same thing with program Conky.

This will not prevent manual restart with message not allowed to restart, but it will help you to see that there is some recording in progress..

Hope this helped.

Regards.

Can you elaborate on how you pull that data out of DVBLink? What script/API call do you have to make to know if a recording is in progress?

Any further thoughts on implementing this officially? I still miss the ability regularly.
