Thanks Oberon I wondered if there was a transcode option in the direct url... that's fantastic, much appreciated

Sorry, is MP4 and/or the link specific to V5? I've been putting off reinstalling.

Yes, it is specific to v5.

Hi! Two questions on this subject:

1. I can't get the direct URL to play inside Chrome. If I try the URL in VLC it works. I use this URL:
http://192.168.1.71:8101/dvblink/direct ... trate=1024

And if I can't get it working in Chrome, I cannot cast the tab to Chromecast. What could be the problem with my Chrome?

2. Any news on if we could get "real" Chromecast support to be able to cast from iOS/Android apps to a Chromecast stick? It would be great!

/Anders

Chromecast support status has not been changed.

As for the url in chrome - first of all you need DVBLink v5 for it to work.
Further, this url points directly to the stream with correctly set http header. I do not know if chrome can open it at all. You may need to put it into html5 element for it to start working.

Ok. I assume then that you have not tried such a link in Chrome. Would it be possible for you to do that? Perhaps someone else reading this could try opening a direct link inside Chrome and post results here?

(see earlier post in this thread on how to create such a link)

I have tried.

The link does not work in Chrome by itself.

It does require the HTML5 video tag. Chromestores CastBuddy was unable to get the link to play on it, either.

If you really want to do this though, I was able to get BubbleUpnp (chromecast) with its BubbleUPNP server to take the DVBLink DLNA stream and send it to the CC.

I accidentally got it running on my Chromecast today.

I recently upgraded to v5.0.0 and have been playing with Plex as a media server. Out of curiosity I added the DVBLink Channel add-on to Plex (which I understand is now unsupported?).

Using the Plex app on my phone, I was able to Cast my TV channels to my Chromecast. Obviously with Plex you don't get the EPG information, and channel changing does take a long time, but the picture seemed stable.

Therefore, it's quite possible to get your TV signal into the Chromecast. If you've got Plex it doesn't involve too much messing about and is fairly elegant.

It would be great, if DVBLink App would support Chromecast :D
Not need to use XMBC or Plex for watching live TV.
BubbleUPNP is not a work around because of missing live transcoding to mp4. BubblrUPNP server needs running ffmpeg which is not installed by default on each NAS.

Definitely, yes. This is the last step for me in ditching HTPCs at each screen in the house. Tired of tinkering and maintaining multiple boxes - just want to plug a Chromecast in and maintain one server.

First CC has to handle the Codecs... If that's not OK you can forget it.

Is there any reason why DVB can't transcode to something the Chromecast can play? Pooling my channels is great, but if the options to play them are limited then it's all a bit difficult.
Plex can get my TV to the CC (albeit extremely clunky), it's a shame it can't be done directly.

I don't really understand why this is not possible. EVERY other app support chromecast, but not DVBLink, why?

I know. I've got a Raspberry Pi with OSMC that only streams live TV. Everything else is done via the Chromecast.

Bump....

Now with transcoder ability and the new IOS app, it should be possible to get true chromecast support.

I hereby join the *bump*. It would be great with CC functionality.
