DS1513+, TBS5680, MCE > PlayReady errors > 10s > stream

Oberon,

I installed some time ago a DS1513+ together with 3 TV tuners and the DVBlogic package, with the purpose to watch at multiple systems (windows media center based).

My setup:
Code: Select all
Synology DS1513+, DSM 4.3-3810
DVBlink server 4.7.0 build 9733
2x TBS5680 (With alphacrypt classic, all channels)
1x TBS5680 (Without CAM, FTA channels only)
Ziggo standard TV package
Clients: multiple windows media center clients (hard wired via Gbit lan)

I still get persistent "Update PlayReady" errors while trying to tune to different channels (Encrypted and FTA) on multiple systems.

  • I (re-) installed the package to the letter as mentioned on the Wiki; checked almost every forum topic for solutions, but no succes...
  • Re-starting the NAS / DVBlogic package will typically solve the issues
  • Signal (quality and strength) on the TBS tuners is low (~30%). As far as I know, known issue.
Signal quality has been tested (by Ziggo technician) at both the CAI takeover point as well as the connection points of the tuners itself: signal cannot be better.
  • Disabled the power schedule (shutdown during night), allthough I recall that the amount of playready errors is less with power schedule active than after disabling it

I've include the log-file (set to info) as well as the dmesg output; before and after the reboot of the NAS...

Can you support to identify the origen of this issue?

if I'm not mistaken PlayReady cannot and does not have to be updated.
Please follow the installation instructions from wiki:

I followed the referred installation instructions from the wiki to the letter...

The issue does not occur during installation, but after successfull usage (watching encrypted and non-encrypted channels)..
After some time, when I select a program (from the guide) to watch, I get the update PlayReady error:
Code: Select all
the playready was incomplete. You will not be able to watch or record protected content until the update is successful

Also for non-encrypted channels...

Are your TBS tuners connected to the USB2 or USB3 ports of your NAS?

All three tuners are connected to the USB2 ports
I'm aware of the stabiliteit issue while connecting the tuners to the USB3 ports.

Oberon, any update or advise to solve the continous PlayReady error issues mentioned?

Update from my side.

Yesterday I installed on the same setup DSM 5.0....
I really had difficulties to get DVBLink started (sources tab unstable, no tuning possible)

I ended up in removing both the server program (on the NAS) as well as the client software (multiple MCE).
After manually removing all files left behind (both NAS and clients), restarting of the systems, I was able to succesfully install DVBLink again..

All three tuners are now in equal configuration; all with AlphaCrypt Classic CAM and same channels assigned

In my advanced configuration I have the following settings (tested all different options, this one is providing the best performance)
Retry tuning on no signal lock: checked
Stop stream when idle: unchecked (unchecked, greatly improves the channel tuning time)
Repeat diseqc command: unchecked
Wait for stream on tune: unchecked (if selected, no PlayReady errors are shown, but DVBLink is showing an error message that there is no signal)

In addition, under 'manage channels' of the primairy TVSource, I made the following change:

At Channel info: CA system | ECM pid I checked for all channels the check box behind the info provided (e.g. Irdeto (0604) 138A).
I'm not sure what the function of this check box is (could not find it on the Wiki / forum)... but it is working..

The only (?) issue which I am facing now is that if I select a program out of the guide
- the client will start tuning
- after around 5 seconds shows the PlayReady update error
- 10 seconds afther the playready error shows up the stream is available... (in some cases I have to 'exit' out of the playready error.)

For live TV this might be a workaround, but all recordings are basically failing on this issue.

Attached the dmesg output file and dvblink-log files (set to info from the start)..

Please support to resolve this issue

Not sure if we can do anything here. It probably happens because starting decryption takes some significant time (5-10 seconds). Apparently in this case MCE decides that there is no usable signal and does not record anything.

Hi Oberon, I'm having the same issues as Double T had and I have followed all the instructions on the Wiki page. If it's because of decryption taking a long time is there no way to delay MCE for a while until decryption is finished?
