Migrated DS214play -> DS916+ = problems with discontinuity

Postby Neo_Moucha » Mon Jul 17, 2017 8:42 am

Hi, I migrated my DS214play with connected dual TT-CT3650 tuners (which I have been using for quite some years now without problems) to the DS916+ and am getting many discontinuity errors now.... the configuration is exactly the same (only on trial license before I ask to switch the license).
I tried to limit DVBLink to run on single CPU, but without any change, the discontinuity stays...
Any advice? Thanks!

It could be due to bad cable connection/maybe also issue with signal / and powering of the tuner.
Maybe something was corrupted during migration ...

Disconnect all from NAS and each item (cable/connector/usb/power ... ) then connect all from scratch.
Check stream once more (also check recording)

Well... I will double-check it then, but I don't think it is connection or signal related problem (checked the wiring before I posted here), the recordings unfortunately have the problems too :( which is really bad...
I'll let you know in the evening.

OK... as expected - did try to redo all the cables once more, no change, then removed dvblink package and reinstalled and configured from scratch - no change
then - disconnected the tuners from DS916+ and connected back to newly installed DS214play and everything works fine...
So I guess there is some driver issue with DS916+ :(

Actually should not be a driver issue as similar tuner works well on my x86-64 based NAS ....

I may assume that there is some issue related to the USB port of the NAS, or to the cable itself.
Or there is some other DVB software installed on the NAS which may cause issues.
Also it could be the HDD issue, actually not HDD but his high loading (for instance during some backups of so) makes influence to the tuner

nope, same cable works fine with DS214play
nope, same disks as were in DS214play (WD Red 6 TB)
nope, no backup tasks whatsoever, or any other tasks using hdd at the time
nope, none other DVB software installed

so it leaves us with the USB port - when I have time, I will check the other (front) USB port of the DS916+
DS916+ has 3 USB3.0 only ports, my tuners are connected with a USB 2.0 hub and this configuration works fine with the DS214play, whether it is connected to the front USB 2.0 port or to the rear USB 3.0 port...
So far I checked only rear USB 3.0 port of the DS916+

We have seen the Synology models, where USB2 ports did not work, but USB3 - did. Same issue with discontinuities. Model - DS414j.
Please, try USB3 port. It might work better.

Same issue with me.
Had to migrate from one DS216+II to another after a hardware failure on the first one.
Same Disks, nothing touched on cabling and tuners but obviously the latest DSM version.
Tried USB2 on the back and USB3 in the front - discontinuity stays - non after fresh reboot but with every our running the systems it's getting more on all HD channels... Seems Synology changed something within the OS, either within the libs used for decoding or the USB subsystem.
