Bug found in Kodi timers

Postby Harvey Tomato » Thu Jun 23, 2016 5:20 am

Hi -

Just installed DVBLink TVSource on a trial basis, and I've been very impressed so far, but I've found a bug when it's being used as a back-end for Kodi...

Whenever a repeating keyboard-based timer is set, and it's the first timer in the list of scheduled recordings, Kodi gets stuck with the message Loading timers from clients.

Versions in use:
* DVBLink TVSource 6.0.0
* DVBLink PVR Client 2.1.7
* Kodi 6.1 (Jarvis)

Steps to reproduce:
In Kodi, go to TV -> Timers -> Add timer... and add a timer of type Repeating keyword-based timer - the rest of the timer details don't make any difference. The timer appears to be set up successfully according to the scheduled recordings list in DVBLink, but Kodi will get stuck with the message Loading timers from clients until the timer is deleted from within DVBLink and Kodi is restarted.

Note that this only seems to occur if the keyword-based timer is the first timer in the list of scheduled recordings.

Edit:
Just found another problem. When you delete a timer from within Kodi's guide view, it gets deleted successfully, but the message Kodi displays always gives the name of the first timer in the list as the name of the timer deleted, even if that wasn't the timer you deleted.

Not surprised there's nothing of interest in the log files - I'd expect that the bug(s) are in the Kodi PVR add-on.

FWIW I'm havng the identicl issue. If I delete all timers the plugin starts fine. BizarreleyI created the timer from within Kodi and it has in fact been booting up fine for the last few days with the timer enabled...

Seems the issue occurs if you add a big amount of timers. (more then 50 or so)
NETGEAR RNDU2000; Synology DS112j, DS 212j, DS213+, DS 712+; Western Digital WD ex2; Asustor AS3, RPI2 ...

Yes, for me it happens despite only having a single timer enabled in DVBlogic.

Interesting factor:

If I have the program name set as the recording criteria (10 eps in the list) then it crashes on startup. If I Set the program recording as a repeating timer instead (wtill 10 eps in the pending list) then it starts up fine...

Yep, in my case it only happens for a keyword-based timer (ie with the programme name set as the recording criteria, like you said).

Try this: Set up a regular manual time-based timer so that it's the first in the list, and then set up a new keyword-based timer. It won't hang!
