Playback of recorded TV

Postby brianjg » Mon Mar 14, 2016 11:24 pm

Just wondering how this is handle when using dvblink & kodi. Is the recorded show streamed via the process as the live TV (ie TVSource) or does the KODI client stream from the location where the .ts file is stored? Is it possible to manipulate this playback behaviour?

I'm no expert on this, but I would presume it's streamed using DVBLogic TVSource/Kodi Addon rather than Kodi reading the file from it's physical location, my only reason for thinking this is that the client would need to have the right privileges for the location where the recordings are stored. I have a couple of Openelc clients and I certainly haven't given them privileges to where my recordings are stored (or cant remember doing it!) might be wrong though....

That was my thinking too but I have the opposite (the recorded tv location IS shared to the kodi clients).

I know I can add the path to the normal video list of kodi but was curious if I could control this from the dvblink side.

Actually I've also found that recorded TV isn't being transcoded when played back via Kodi.

Is there a way to force this?

That's disappointing, so the transcode feature is very limited then. Is there plans to include this in the future?

Oberon recently indicated in another thread that transcoding of recordings could be included in v6. Use search function.
