Recommend a stable kodi setup

Postby hektic » Wed Oct 14, 2015 9:15 pm

Hi,

I never seem to have much luck with xbmc / kodi with dvblogic

All I want is to be able to watch TV without kodi freezing. I've tried ubuntu 15.04 and kodi and it just freezes after switching channels sometimes or if I leave a TV channel on for some time...

I don't care if its old version etc just want it not to crash :D

What is the best Linux distribution and kodi version to try?

I'm running latest dvblink 5.5 on separate server win 7 PC.

Thanks in advance!

The best and easiest way is to install the OpenElec distribution. It comes with all necessary drivers for your system. Installation is done in within 2 minutes and it will work mostly out of the box. (at least for me!) I'm using it on my productive machine right now since some months and did not encounter even one crach.

You may find your appropriate build here: http://openelec.tv/get-openelec

Its free and linux based.

Hi,

Thanks, I should have mentioned that Ideally need to be able to drop to the desktop...

Will need web browser occasionally, I will give it a try though to see if I can make it work for me - I may be able to put up with it if I can just have it stable!

Thanks!
