Problems seeking in time shift buffer

Postby Tranquil » Fri Jul 03, 2015 7:43 am

Hello Forum and Devs.

Using the DVBLink addon in my KODI 14.2 installation causes problems when seeking within the time shift buffer. Lets say I stop the live TV for about 30 minutes, then unpause the stream and fast search up to the end of the recorded time shift buffer by jumping +30 seconds to get back to realtime. It often happens, that the time shift buffer is then completely messed up. It jumps to the beginning or somewhere within but does not reach realtime state.

How can I fix this? Do you need additional information?

I'm the only one with this problem?
I now upgraded to DVBLing 5.5, Problem still exists. Fast forwarding or backwarding is not really possible for me.

I can confirm this behaviour ( occasionally ), But i pretty sure it's Kodi issue working with LiveTV.
Also in some cases ( especially with HD channels ) it can be because of deficit of buffer size. As i know in dvblink the default buffer size is 4Gb.

It seems to me that DVBlogic should issue a statement about this problem.

I think it is safe to assume that a substantial number of registered DVBlink users are also using Kodi. It is therefore likely that a substantial number of DVBlink users have problems with the Kodi DVBlink PVR add-on.

Isn't it time that DVBlogic starts considering this component as a supported product and put it a bit higher on the list of things to do?

I do not know enough about licensing, but is it allowed to make the PVR add-on a payed-for component? In that case it could be made a quality product like the rest of the DVBlogic.

I assume here that the PVR add-on is the source of this (and maybe other) problem(s).
Seeking in pre-recorded media with Kodi is no problem, and in this case the DVBlink add-on is not involved.

I can add one thing: After an upgrade to [Beta] OpenELEC 5.95.5 on Raspberry Pi2 and Kodi 15.1 on my PC ( both with DVBLink PVR Addon 1.10.9 ) all issues with timeshifting have disappeared. Now all work like a charm. So, as for me, the issue was at Kodi side.

I don't understand this. You say OpenELEC runs Kodi 15.1 and you have no problem. How can the problem than be at the Kodi side? I am running Kodi 15.1 and I DO have the problem!

I am not familiar with OpenELEC. Where does the DVBlink PVR add-on come into play?

Thanks for enlightening me!

Ah, did not know that. Now that I know, I feel that it is reasonable to ask further.

Can you explain how the problem is in Kodi, as the problem both does and does not appear with Kodi 15.1?

Thanks,

It's only guesses, that issue was at kodi side, due to the fact that there were no changes at dvblink pvr addon which could affect to its operation.

So there is a stale mate. Both the Kodi people and the DVBlogic team recognize that there is a problem.

Do we, as users, stand any chance that the problem ever gets resolved?

There is still an open ticket for this, but it seems that the KODI Team does not take care of it (yet).
