XBMC addon and HD channels

Postby bruno71 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:37 pm

Hi, I installed 4.5.1 and it went without hassle. Good job!

However, I got curious of the DVBLink XBMC addon, so I installed XBMC 11 (have no prior experience with XBMC). Watching live TV works for SD channels, and for some HD channels. But for some HD channels I only get sound and a green picture. These channels all work nicely within Windows Media Center (and through iPhone client).

Any suggestions?

Which channels are they? And which videocard do you have?

Videocard is Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Examples of channels with problems:

- Eurosport HD (12015H:NID70:TID41:SID4101)
- TV3 HD (12015H:70:41:4109)

Example of working channel:

- TV4 HD 10934H:70:14:1405

Satellite: Thor5+6, 0.8°W.

And now after trying again, some channels that worked before does not work right now...?

XBMC addon and HD channels

Postby bruno71 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 10:34 pm

Ok, tested some more. I wasn't patient enough earlier. All channels work, but the channel changing was real slow for some HD channels, about 40-45 seconds until image shows up.

What could be the reason for that?

Thanks. Could you please be a bit more specific on how you suggest I test with VLC?

It looks like your video hardware acceleration does not work properly in XBMC. First thing to check is whether it is turned on:
System -> Video -> Playback. Allow hardware acceleration should be On.
I also recommend to set Render method to DXVA.

Then go to the dvblink addon, start channel playback on a problematic HD channel and press O button. The debug information will appear. Video codec should be ff-h264-dxva2.
This screen will also provide you with the information on frame rate, dropped frames, CPU usage etc.

If all looks good from the video codec point of view, you need to read on the internet if xbmc works good with your intel video. For example for my nvidia I had to replace one of the dlls with a test one to watch FreeSat HD channels properly as there is a bug in the current Eden build for these specific channels (or better to say for video encoding that they use).

When press "o" in XBMC except to see for "ff-h264-dxva2"
also see for cache on third line end

Also update video drivers with last on intel's web page

XBMC addon and HD channels

Postby bruno71 » Tue Sep 11, 2012 2:10 pm

Ok, testing upload of image through Tapatalk here...

Anyway, I upgraded Intel drivers. They were actually outdated (I had only checked for drivers at OEM [ASRock] website).

The long channel switching issue is still there after upgrading Intel graphics driver (after 45 seconds of green, the picture appears). See image below, anything that looks bad there? (I don't know how to interpret the debug data).

What is IP set on Plug-in? (in case that is same box must be 127.0.0.1)
How many memory have this embedded video?
