DVBLink 6 - Recording Format

Postby Michael_Schmitz » Sun Mar 20, 2016 5:33 pm

Hi there at DVBLogic

The current DVB Link 5 is designed for saving the recording in .ts Container Format
That causes Problems within some Android TV Apps like Emby or Plex.

Do you plan to offer another or alternative Format like h.264 or h.265?

In DVBLink v6 there will be a possibility to transcode (offline) recorded content into mp4.

I am not quite sure if I have you understand right.

Transcode means, the stream can be saved as mp4. Now it is save as .ts

Hello,

.mp4 sounds good, but is not the solution at this point. transcoding is done after the record is done. if the recordings are native saved e.g. on a Nas and then streamed via Plex,
plex can also do the transcoding. a better solution could be to upgrade the faulty software to handle .ts better. look inside the .ts stream with vlc and you see the codec which is used.

vlc is also avail for mobile devices. works with .ts for me. sometimes it is better to transcode with plex to get smaller files to stream to the mobile device.

try to set emby or plex to transcode to fit the streams to your mobile android device. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Transcoding
most players on android only can play the supported formats that the installed android version is able to play native (different manufacturer and android version)
also you can try mx player.
