Tw TeeVee goes W8

Postby markwilde » Mon Jan 07, 2013 8:43 am

I build a W8 client for the Windows Phone. During the holidays last week I decided to port it to Windows 8. I added most of the features of the Windows phone app. You can switch between different profiles (for multiple networks, or multiple media centers). As wel as a wake-up service (WOL and WOW). A new feature is the basic guide lay-out of the app.

Unfortunately the same audio lag exists as in the version from Mika,

Just a short update on the Audio lag on the Windows 8 apps. I am able to reproduces the audio lag with the encoding of a simple movie, without DvbLink. I use expression encoder to stream the video to the Windows 8 app. The video streams correctly to a Windows Phone App an incorrectly to a Windows 8 App. This is definately a fault in the WinRT framework (the Windows framework the app is build on). At the moment I am checking with Microsoft if this is a bug and if there is a work around available. I keep you posted on any progress.

regards

Hey,
great App! Im finally able to watch TV on my Asus Vivo Tab RT :)

[list=]
[*]audio lag (on Windows RT 8.1 and Windows 8)
[*]no german audio track selection
[*]there is just some selected guide information, not all channels show the guide
[*]buffersize seems sometimes to small (it would be great to add an option to manually change the buffersize)

Thanks for the tips. Sorry to hear the audio lag is still there! That is something i wont be able to fix. I will check on the other stuff. What do you mean by the third bullet 'there is just some selected guide information, not....'?

Hi, my test show that using Windows Media Player causes the CPU where DBVLink Server is running to shoot up to and remain at 100%. Not advisable if you wan't to continue using the CPU. This is do to the transcoding on the server side for the ACF protocol.

I switched to a media player which accepts raw_http stream and the API works like a charm without posing a potential hardware threat.

May I suggest that you replace the player in your Store App.

The app seems to be gone. Can you please re-add it to the store? It was the only working app for my Surface RT. I deinstalled it today, but wanted to reinstall it right after but, unfortunately it was gone. :(
