Thanks :)

I tried on Release Preview, the app is not listed, and I'm unable to install it on my RTM version (it's my dev computer, so it may be why)
Anyone succeded ?

Hi Mika,

The app installs from the store, but it is unable to connect to my sever (local host). I tried the IP address, localhost and 127.0.0.1. None of them are working on the streaming port 8080.

Any idea?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Progaar,

Are you using version 4.5.1 ? It is the only version I've been testing the app on
Do you get a webpage called "Channels and guide" when going on http://127.0.0.1:8080 ?
It may be a restriction from Windows 8, but I don't think so (only tried remote servers)

Hi Mika,

Dvblink works fine from the browser for 127.0.0.1, it's outside IP address and Al's http://localhost:8080.

Any other idea's?

Can you please test it yourself first on a clean windows 8 system?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

Tried to access 127.0.0.1:8080, a 00002efd error occurs, which is a "security error" according to Microsoft
Doesn't work using LAN IP either, same error

I am going to ask Microsoft about this. You can try using an http proxy if you can set up such an architecture

Will keep you posted

Hi Mika,

Maybe this will help: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 70532.aspx

Seems to be a network isolation issue in Windows 8.

Peter

Hi Mika,

Installed your app succesfully on my notebook, connecting over wifi to my living room PC where Dvblink is running.

Nice app!! :)

Can you explain how I can add Dutch channel logo's? Your 'under construction' website is not clear to me how to add the country Netherlands.

And I noticed a serious delay in lip sync. For a future version, can you please add lip sync adjustment?

Thanks!

Yes, it is a newtork isolation (a stupid one)
Can you try, in command prompt, with elevated privileges
Code: Select all
CheckNetIsolation.exe LoopbackExempt –a –n=61530ninjafactory.dvblinkclient_z57vrmdxje7nr

This should add an exempt for the app

Clic on "Region not listed?" and add a region with "nl" code
If you have a lot of logos to send (like, after ten, this form will make you mad), you can zip all logos and send them to me at mika56 [at] mika56 [dot] me
Please send transparents PNG, so I won't have to look for them ;)
If some channels have got multiple names, join a text file witht the names ;)

For your audio/video sync problem, this is due to the fact that the app requires transcoding to work, and this requires a LOT of the server processor (and it gets worst with HD channels)
I can't find a way to sync the channels using HTML5 video, the solution for me would be to include a MPEG-2/4 decoder, but I don't very know how to do it
The easiest way imho is DVBLogic to add hardware encoding instead of software decoding

Hi Mika,

Thanks, that solved the issue (copy/paste the command gives an invalid parameter error though. However, typing the command does work).

Lip sync on he local host is not an issue anymore. However I did encounter some freezes/hangs, so there is some work to do...

I think you have to think about what the app gives more than the normal web interface of Dvblink does.
Besides that, this Friday, Microsoft opens up the Media Center key for the Professional version of Win8. For local installations that will be the way to go I think (I tried every possible option (XBMC, JRiver, Plex, your app, etc..). None of them can replace Windows Media Center for me at this moment.

Thanks for your effort anyway!!

Peter

Ok, users will be prompted to execute the command in the next version if they try to connect to the local host

What hang? If it's the stream, there is nothing I can do. However, if the app crashed, well, that's my fault :)

I am alone on the app, so I can't do a lot quickly. However, I have already planned more things to make it look like a Media Center, not just a TV player ;)

I totally aggree with you, and the worst parts are:
1: Microsoft is abandoning Media Center
2: Installing Media Center doesn't even add the required codecs to play raw stream under Metro apps...

Hi,

The app is available in almost all regions, excepting South Africa, Brasilia, Korea and Taiwan because theses regions seems to need additional certifications, so I didn't checked them for the first version, but I will try to publish the next version in theses regions
Note that the app seems to be absent from DP, CP, RP, and only present in the RTM Store (and final version)

I got "Error: Unsupported video type or invalid file path" for some resolutions. For example 720x576 is not working while 640x480 can. Same channel, same network etc.
Any clues?
