I've had some to test. The NUC's with the celeron still are not usable. From memory it has bettered a bit. But a lot of frameskipping going on. I had my hopes on this update, but apparently x264 still has no hardware acceleration.

I don't want to watch h265. In the Netherlands h265 is not (yet) being used for TV broadcast. I want to watch h264. The very standard h264. Used everywhere.

But....is there any love for h264? And if not, what are the needed specs for h264?

The h264 should be decoded really nice even on arm based CPU (on RPI for instance)

Should be, but isn't. That is the case on two nucs containing celeron cpu's and one i5 with an Intel Iris 6100 GPU. On Kodi everything is really smooth. With low CPU power. On DVBLink Viewer it isn't. And I am not the only one on this forum.

Just to demonstrate, this is live tv played on a M-5Y10c cpu:

More then 70% cpu power used, by just playing live TV. There is no server on this system, only the viewer. It seems that it is not using the GPU at all.

I hope that dvblogic can explain how to get the GPU involved. Or is there no hardware acceleration in the viewer? Is it a setting I have missed?

The only settings effecting hardware performance with previous revisions of the Viewer was deinterlacing and transcoding.

Multiple options were present for deinterlacing, each with their own effect on hardware performance, so you could find which option worked efficient on your system.
Those multiple options for deinterlacing are now gone in the new version.

Quoting myself. Hope to get an answer of DVBLogic. I see more interesting NUCs, now with HDMI2.0. Would make a better fit with the new 4k television. But I am afraid that a J3455 or a J4205 cpu will not be enough for DVBLink Viewer. Latest version has x265 acceleration. But I need x264. Very common x264....

DVBLogic, is this question really so hard to answer? Or do you intentially ignore it?

We are really have conducted a lot of tests regarding your issue. And in our test lab it works without any questions.
It could be a driver issues or so, something behind our competence. Anyway, it is open issue and we will let you know, if we get some information regarding all these.

@the_man, this issue is present on all low spec machines....

As stated before :

One of my TV viewing clients in one of my bedrooms is a very old system, a win10 ZOTAC barebone mini PC from 2009 with a Nvidia ION chipset and a 1.2GHz Celeron ...
DVBLink viewer can't handle my HD TV streams too on that system, but..... when I use Kodi 17 with the DVBLink PVR client addon, HD TV streams are playing flawlessly in KODI.

It looks like DVBLink Viewer doesn't use the GPU the same way that Kodi does, for viewing HD channels.

So definitely an issue with the player/viewer !

Systems I have tested this on are powered by:
i5 4200u
Core M-5Y10
Celeron N3050
Celeron N2920
i5 5257u
Intel Pentium Dual Core T4400 with 9100M Nvidia GPU

None of these systems were able to use the viewer app and having a fluid experience. All have different GPU's and drivers. All work fine using Kodi. My suggestion is that you stop looking for a driver issue and look into your piece of software.

Still no answer and no solution. I've shown on how many systems the problem exists. Please don't tell me the problem is only over here.
