Octopus Net and Tuner-Count

Postby Tom42935 » Mon May 23, 2016 8:36 am

Hi,

I was used to get with my Octopus Net (4 Tuner model) 8 (eight!) Tuners to record. After Upgrade to 6.x there are inly the "real" 4 tuners available. (the first were ok after the upgrade, nr. 5-8 were without connect - I deleted them manually)

why, double using 1 tuner was ok,
It was very comfortable to use at max 8 tuners, because of the overlapping of records. I am using 15 min before an 30 min after.
please adjust that to the double, if there are problems with networks an / or the type of was you could make that deal in the configuration at users side.

Thanks for info

Ostopus has only 4 physical tuners and that is what DVBLink shows now.
8 tuners display was not correct, because double c/t tuners is not part of sat>ip standard.

Hi Oberon,

too bad, no standard... and for us users a step backwards ;(
BUT... I do understand your position,
but maybe in future you may allow (userconfig) the none standard with an explicit information

We may allow it - no problem. But your Octopus only has 4 physical tuners and cannot record more that 4 channels from different transponders simultaneously, no matter how many tuners we show in the user interface.

Hi Oberon,

ok than I was lucky... though could be that max 4 recordings were situated 2x2 instead of 4x1.
I do not know exact, seeing only the recording result and sometime the use of 2 streams on one tuner for recording.

you are saying " from different transponders simultaneously", yes this could be the trigger... special if you record series which will be sent right after another... in this case the same tuner will record the same channel using 2 streams and actual don't cut the before or after time.
