Android App -> Start streaming = UNKNOWN?

Postby olli80 » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:55 pm

Hi there,

just bought the connect server and want to stream live tv to my android device.

I install the App and configure the server. I use the internet settings. I can connect to the server and receive succeful the channel and epg listings.

When i click on a channel for streaming it gives me a black screen with the message UNKNOWN!

Whats going wrong?

I´m using a SE X10i, rooted with CyanogenMod 7.2 (Andorid 2.3.7).
The DVBLink is working fine, firewall rule is set.

Trying to steam with WinXP WebInterface is also not working.
I can access the WebInterface and also see channel and epg listing but start streaming end up in a black screen.

Mhh i just checked it at home.

I can stream it within my local network.
Just gone on my other pc and tried it with the web interface.

Do i need to forward any other port than 8080 to my connect server?

I think it has not to deal with the android app. Looks like to be a connection / port problem?

Please try on wifi outside of your home network.
It might be that your mobile provider cuts udp traffic, which is used for Android streaming.

OK so i was proofing port forward and firewall settings again.
I changed streaming ports to 4040-4048 TCP, 4040-4048 UDP and baseport is still 39876 TCP.
I was re-creating the rules for the Windows firewall and reboot my router and the media pc.

Everytime i try to stream i do it from:
1. my android device
2. my PC at work (DSL line)

checking with phone:
As before, i´m receiving the epg listings.
Trying to stream a channel bring a new error "ServerDied". Mhhh.......... how to deal with this?

checking with pc at work:
not possible right now. I´m having a day off :)

I´m woundering about the TCP AND UDP forwarding. In my Fritz Box 7270 i can set only TCP OR UDP forward but not both at the same time. I have created 2 forward rules. One with TCP and one with UDP. I hope this is correct?

About my mobile provider: normaly this provider is alowing all "special" thinks like VOIP and video streaming......... of course i´m not sure for 100%. But streaming my tv with Remote Potato was working without problems over my mobile.

UPDATE: While visting my friend i was testing the steaming over his DSL line.
Streaming over Internet Explorer is working fine now.

So now it seems to be a real problem with the android app!

I am having the same problem, I have the ports forwarding correctly and the epg works perfectly but when running a channel I just get UNKNOWN.

It works fine on my local network.

The phone is a good old HTC wildfire.

Proof video streaming on a friends pc first for be sure that your port forwarding is working 100%

Ok just tried on a mates PC, I get into the web interface easy enough but streams don't seem to work.

My port forwarding is 8080 in and out on both udp and tcp, do I need anything else?

Come on Oberon!!!!

I dont think my problem has to deal with port forwarding.

As written before my streaming is working fine from external access.
Just getting ServerDied on my Android.

Whats going wrong with it? Without your help i have invested my money in a dead product :(

Poo, I am only forwarding 8080 not 8080-8088.

Will report back when I have got that bit right.

Got it working, adding the extra ports did the trick.

Any advice on getting around a dynamic IP address as mine will change and I can't get a static one from my ISP.
