Stale connections in DvbLogic

Postby Koen Zomers » Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:30 am

I often have it happening that I get stale connections in DvbLogic. I.e. a client using Kodi or the native DvbLink Android app tuned to some signal. For some reason it can't start playing it. Could be that the signal is too weak although dvblogic would still show a stream going on. When this happens, the Diagnostics tab will show a connected client and it streaming data. This will never ever end anymore. If the client closes or goes to another channel, it will just pick another tuner leaving this one occupied forever. I have two workarounds to fix this:

1. I restart the dvblogic Windows Service
2. I go to the Sources tab and click on the wrench to configure the blocked tuner. This will stop the stream and right after it can be used again.

Needless to say this required manual intervention and easily runs into the scenario that all tuners are blocked with stale channels.

Is there a way to fix this bug? Or make it easier to stop a stream? A disconnect button on the Diagnostics page would be great already. Even better would be an API I can call from i.e. PowerShell to stop a stream more easily.

This is mainly a bug for DVBLink Kodi PVR on Android Clients it seems and also happens with DVBLink for IPTV, when Kodi is used as a client.

When the DVBLink viewer/player is used, this never occurs.

The bug mentioned in that topic is still not fixed after 4 months :!:

Thanks! Good to hear I'm not the only one suffering here. With Android I mean their true own Android app. Not Kodi on Android. Same problem happens there.

I could never get the DVBLink Player to work, so that's not an alternative for me.

I've filed a support ticket to inquire about this. They say to be working on a completely written from scratch new version of DvbLogic in which this issue may or may not be fixed. There's no ETA for it and they're dedicating their full attention to that new version before picking up any issues with the current version. So we'll have to suffer until they're done and hope the new version will resolve it.
