DVBLink Theatre

Postby fab4272 » Sat Jun 04, 2016 5:24 am

Hi all,

Finally, thanks for allowing another way to watch Live TV on Android TV without using Kodi. Great work.

Only I have a couple observations for now:
1. User interface. The last time I used one like that it was on my 386 running a CGA graphics card on a DOS platform. Is there any work in the pipeline to pretty it up (ie....Pluto like?)
2. I'm from Australia, so broadcast is 50Hz. Running it on a Nexus Player, which always defaults to 60Hz when starting, no matter where you are in the world. It has auto refresh rate swithing build in. For some reason, you app does not switch to 50Hz but remains at 60Hz. Also, I get a section of green garbled picture on the RH side of the screen taking about 5% of it.

Looking fwd to the updates on this product. Also, the EPG import into Kodi now is fast.

Keep up the great work.

Ok. Nice to know. Not intending to sound to insincere, but since I paid for the upgrade, do you have any ECD on when you'll start looking into the issue of the 60Hz vs 50Hz problem?

Thanks.

Does any other app - like Kodi - switch to 50Hz?

The green bar on the right is related to de-interlacing bug and we are working on it.

It does in fact. Kodi switch's to 50hz when it detects the frame rate in the stream.

Hello,

as this seems to be one of the main threads for DVBLink Theatre, I will post my discovery again.

On my Sony Bravia TV DVBLink Theatre prevents the TV so go to standby, when I watch live TV.
The screen gets black an the lights of the TV are of. But DVBLink Theatre is still running and the TV
consumes about 20W instead of 0.3W for real standby.

I think most of the users will not notice this and will get a high bill from their electricity company...

Ok, I see this is going to be hard in getting a response.

Basically, from what I can tell so far, I paid and upgraded for nothing from 5.5 to 6.0 as DVBLink Theatre is flawed for 50Hz and de-interlacing. Wish I would have known that before spending money on a product that has brought me no benefit whatsoever.

When there will be news we will let you know. It is work in progress at the moment.
I do not know if it can be done properly at all. Kodi does not change frame rate also, by the way.

Sorry, but it does. On my old HTPC it would switch to 50hz when it detected the TV stream. On my Nexus Player it runs at 60hz, but when playing live TV it switches to 50hz after 3-4 seconds of starting live TV. There is a setting in Kodi to allow this to happen under the video settings.

Can you please do the following - after it switches to 50 Hz, go to Settings -> system info and check what is the display refresh rate as shown there? Thanks.

OK. I'll do that. The Nexus player defaults to 60 hz. This I can't change. Kodi runs at 60 hz to when navigating the menu. My TV info button reports 60hz. When I play live TV it switches and my TV info butto n reports 50hz.

I'll take a few screen grabs for you.
