Hi Oberon,

Thank you for the reply. Idly it now seems to work?

I stopped the service and made the changes while the service was "stopping" I then saved the changes but the service froze is "stopping" so I could not start it again so I rebooted and low and. Behold it works? So it seems a machine reboot may be what is neede after the changes althought seems odd.

Can others verify that had problems this solves things?

Many thanks all - I shall report back if things go wrong.

I have just fixed the same 'General error' problem.
I went back to my machine that has the tuners and re-setup the TV signal, deleted the channels and re-tuned and re-fetched the guide data.
This has now stopped the error.

I also have the "general error" occuring when I do the changes according to the Wiki link previously mentioned in this thread.

I only have references to dlrecorder under <sinks> :

Code: Select all
  <sinks>
    <dlrecorder>
      <guid>bd071717-84fc-4a91-9762-a5215b5be61f</guid>
      <product_id>0cdc2c4d-9a2a-491d-a99e-f3def2d8800f</product_id>
      <sink_control>dlrecorder.dll</sink_control>
      <type>1</type>
    </dlrecorder>
  </sinks>

Which I change into ;

Code: Select all
  <sinks>
    <mc_recorder>
      <guid>bd071717-84fc-4a91-9762-a5215b5be61f</guid>
      <product_id>0cdc2c4d-9a2a-491d-a99e-f3def2d8800f</product_id>
      <sink_control>mc_recorder.dll</sink_control>
      <type>1</type>
    </mc_recorder>
  </sinks>

This produces the "general error" as people previously mentioned. I have not tried to remove all my sources to set everything up again, because that would be a massive task that I can't justify in regards to time as it is right now. Over 1000 channels are configured, numbered etc. The WAF is important here.

Staff - please advise. Is the only way to restore EPG to the web interface (and android/iphone clients) to do the Wiki changes previously mentioned, remove all sources and install them from scratch? If "yes", are you planning a fix for this in a later release?

Most probably it produces general error because MediaCenter, which is a default DVBLink recorder, is not started (yet). As soon as it is running it should give channels and EPG.

Let me repeat the question. Do you have one of your mediacenters set as a default DVBLink recorder and is this mediacenter running at the time of request?

Yes to both questions.

Okey, a long awaited follow up on this is required.

I am still unable to get any guide data in my EPG when using anything but Media Center.

Changing to mc_recorder as recommended is not possible since I run my Windows 7 Media Center *server* completely headless and access it via remote desktop.

When I select mc_recorder as is said to be the solution, a local instance of Media Center wants to be launched on the actual desktop (despite the fact that I have atleast 1 Xbox 360 running Media Center extender against this HTPC - at most 5 Xbox 360 are connected at once!). But, Media Center cannot be launched on the actual console/desktop on the HTPC, as it cannot be run over a remote desktop connection, a limitation set by Microsoft and nothing I can change. (and trust me, I have tried...)

Are there any other options available, or can we atleast ask for this to be considered in a not-too-far-away-future release? I really want to collect the EPG data from the DVBLink server - especially now since I've added a few XBMC clients aswell.

Thank you! :)
