DVBLink 5.1 on Ubuntu 14.04.2 / Ziggo network not found

Postby dizzl » Tue Apr 07, 2015 7:18 am

Hi,

I'm trialling DVBLink/TVSource as a replacement for my aging MythTV setup, but I'm getting stuck on channel scanning.

I'm using the following components:
Ubuntu 14.04.2
DVBLink 5.1 with TVSource trial
2 Mystique CaBiX-C2 cards with Alphacrypt cards in the CI-slots
Ziggo network, with freq 474000/6875/QAM64 configuration
Ziggo smartcards

When running the fast scan, it finds no networks. I noticed parsing errors in the log file concerning 5555.ini, so I inspected it and found it to be encoded in a non-ASCII character set. I therefore resaved it and tried again. The parsing error disappeared but still no networks found.

See the attached log file for details.

When manually running "w_scan" on command line, it does seem to find all transponders and channels.
Any suggestion on what I should try next?

Thanks,
Jeroen

Did you try to Normal scan? There you can choose needed transponder list for DVB-C Netherlands Ziggo.
NETGEAR RNDU2000; Synology DS112j, DS 212j, DS213+, DS 712+; Western Digital WD ex2; Asustor AS3, RPI2 ...
PCTV 460,461e,292e; TT 4400, 4650CI;DVBSKy S960; DD octopus net; Inverto sat2ip multibox; TBS DVB-C ...

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried normal scan as well, using the default 5555.ini. I also created a dummy 5556.ini which contains the list of transponders that w_scan outputs.
Both scans give "Tuning failed" messages for each scanned frequency.

Typical log output per frequency contains these five lines:

2015-Apr-07 20:49:17: [I] Starting streaming thread for tuner 0, frontend 0
2015-Apr-07 20:49:17: [I] tuner 0, demux 0. adding PID 20
2015-Apr-07 20:49:22: [I] CTVSStreamSource::TuneTransponder. Transponder tuning request: diseqc 0, freq 578000, modulation 0, polarization 0, symbol rate 6875000, LOF 5, LNB selection signal 0, FEC 0
2015-Apr-07 20:49:22: [I] Tuning request. 578000, 5, 6875000, 0, 0, 0
2015-Apr-07 20:49:22: [I] Exiting streaming thread for tuner 0, frontend 0

Can you please, set log level to info, restart dvblink server, reproduce the issue and attach zipped log file here?

See attachment. I reran the scan twice in the past 30 minutes, once with log=info and one with log=extended info.

I really do not know why there is not lock when scanning with TVSource as opposed to w_scan.
My only guess would be that Mystique CaBiX-C2 drivers do not support or support only partially FE_SET_PROPERTY API. IIRC w_scan uses set_frobtend function call. Other than that log files look good.

Strange, but thanks for your answer. I'll fiddle some more with it and post notable results if I get any.
