wakeup/shutdown/status of the server

Postby Erast » Sat Jun 14, 2014 8:38 pm

I have some questions to automate wakeup and shutdown of my htpc running dvb link server on ubuntu:

- Is it possible to run a script that sets the wakeuptime and that does the shutdown of the computer if there is no recording during the next xxx seconds? Currently, I am trying to implement wakeup/shutdown via xbmc.
- Any possibility to check if the server is recording / time of next recording?
- Is it possible to check the status of the server: idle/recording/epg scan running/streaming to client, ...?

For the last two points, there is currently no possibility to observe it from outside.
DVBLink sets the wake-up timer automatically for the next planned timer recording (make sure that you BIOS uses UTC times for it to work properly). You can also see it in the log files (with info level) - for what time the next wakeup is planned.

Ok, after switching the loglevel to info I found the log entry:
2014-Jun-18 21:47:41: [I] recorder_engine_impl::update_wakeup_timers. Setting wakeup timer to fire at 1403141040

My check confirmed the correct time:
Erast@htpc:~$ sudo rtcwake -m show --utc
alarm: on Thu Jun 19 01:24:01 2014

But that means I have somehow to do the shutdown of my htpc. How should I setup xbmc?

My server is also used as a backup server that wakes up once a day and creates copies of my files stored in the cloud.
So it would be nice to have a small tool to check the state of the dvb link server.

What would be the preferred mechanism for you?

Hi,

is there still no possibility to get the current status of the server?

I will prevent the suspend, if a recording is running.

Best regards
