Welcome DVBLink Samsung SmartTV client!

Postby Oberon » Fri Nov 29, 2013 5:46 pm

This is beta release of the DVBLink Samsung SmartTV client. It is mainly targeted to assess the compatibility of a client with different Samsung SmartTV models.

DVBLink Samsung SmartTV client is a rich PVR client. User can browse EPG, watch live TV, browse and watch recorded TV. The client does not provide (at this stage) any functionality to schedule or manage scheduled recordings. This will be added in the future versions.

DVBLink Samsung SmartTV client can be installed from our website using development account on your Samsung SmartTV.
The installation procedure is described here:
http://www.samsungdforum.com/Guide/art0 ... ing-the-tv

(Please disregard the first part of the article about "Configuring the Computer". You do not need it).

The IP address to enter into Server IP field is 78.47.18.43

Please give us your feedback about:
- UI interaction speed
- If trick modes (jumps and fast forward/backward) work properly for the recorded TV items
- If there any artifacts during playback of live and recorded TV
- Any artifacts or issues that you might find or suggest during your testing

Please do not forget to mention model of your Samsung Smart TV equipment.

Known issues:
- Visual appearance is not final and will change to certain extent. Mainly the color palette and some UI elements will be moved.
- 2013 Samsung SmartTV models have issues with trick modes when playing back recorded TV having mpeg-2 video. Namely, backward jump and rewind do not work at all, and fast forward/jump forward double the current playback position.
- 2013 Samsung SmartTV models are not able to play back live and recorded TV, which has parts of the encrypted content at the beginning

Tip:
- Different audio tracks can be switched during playback by pressing Green button on the remote. The names of available audio tracks is shown in the left bottom corner just above the progress bar.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Working fine

2 requests.

Couldn't connect at first, because of a SPACE after the port number in settings.

And i could be nice if it was possible to scroll a page in the channel list, going to program 90 is a lot of arrow down presses.

What is your TV model?
You can scroll pages of channels and recordings using P+ and P- buttons.

Your right about P+ and P- to scroll a complete side.
Other places in the tv guy you have to use >> and << to scroll pages.

TV model is UE46ES8005

Btw the string i right bottom corner, is in greek and not in english.

If I can get into the room where my sister-in-law has decamped to for X months then I will give it a try. Grrrrrghhhhh.

However it would be very useful if this worked.

Hello,

the Samsung TV app is a good idea, I'm looking forward to the release.
At the moment, there are still a few problems with the app.

1 In TV Guide the recordings are programmed not displayed.
2 It takes appear to me 1.50 minutes to the recordings under Recording.
But they do not start, there is an error message that the video can not be played.
3 The password query in DVBLink Server I had to disable.

P. S. Samsung ES6300 latest firmware installed

Hallo,

3. Die Password Abfrage im DVBLINK Server musste ich deaktivieren.

Gruß

M. Bauer

p.s. Samsung ES6300 neuste Firmware installiert

1. This functionality (timer management) is not supported in the preview version of the app as was described in the first post.
2. How many recordings do you have? Also what is your tuner setup? Are you using CI module and card to decrypt the channels? If yes, can you please try playing back the recording from FTA channel?
3. This functionality is also not supported in the preview version of the app.

- I have 710 tv recordings and no ci module in use.
- DVBLink running on my Synology DS713 + Nas

- After each restart the TV server ip and port must be re-established.

Probably 700+ recordings is a bit too much for the SmartTV app. We will test here with the same number of recordings and let you now.
Is live TV working on your TV set?

As for settings - probably you are pressing a blue remote key. This is a development shortcut to reset settings :) We have forgotten to remove it.

Hi,

First of all, my DVBLink setup works perfect with WMC.

On my new Samsung UE50F6655SBXXE (2013) the system connect perfect with EPG and recorded items. My problem is with DVB-S/S2 channels (I Think). I can´t see any DVB-S/S2 channels with the app (encrypt or FTA) the only channels that is working is DVB-T (FTA) i don´t have any encrypt DVB-T channel so i can´t test that.

Best regards
Janne
