64 Bit Version of TV-Server ...

Postby NRWler04 » Sun Dec 17, 2017 4:21 pm

Is there a 64-Bit Version of the DVBLink-Server? On my System - Windows Server Essentials 2016 - DVBLink-Server is a 32-Bit Version ..... Did I something wrong?

I’m running on my new Windows 10 64-bit machine. I didn’t download anything special. What issues are you experiencing?

It's not clear yet if it will be added.
What would be the benefit?

Not sure .... performance improvements? I have the problem that the DVB server isn’t not very performing compared to twinkly streaming TV-recordings.

It's time for a 64 Bit Version! Look Apple kill all 32 Bit Version on his mobile Plattform.

The access to the TV-Server to play recordings on my System is really slow. All other DLNA/ UPNP Servers I have running on my system like Twonky, PlayOn or Plex are working much more reactive and fluent.

a 64bit version only makes sense if your decrypter is also 64 bit (acamd, or whatever deccsa you're using. 64 bit does make sense there)
DVBLink TVSource 6, 4x DigitalDevices S2 Tuners, Win7x64, Dq77MK, e3-1225, 8GB, WMC local, WMC-remote, testing KODI usabilty for TV since 2012 - still failing...

In fact, the biggest obstacle so far are the support dll files for legacy tuner hardware from technotrend, tevii, tbs and the others. They are only available in 32 bit format.

I (re-)started doing TV on PCs with wmc back in 2007 (when win7 came out) with tbs cards, later with dd cards.
I have never used 32bit windows since then again.
I would assume that any HW meant for PC/windows that has no 64 bit support really should be done away with.

Also decss runs a lot faster on 64bit than on 32 bit, but that is not really something dvblogic can take care of as long as it is in an external dll.
(Of course, the source code is available for free)
