Server lost all schedules and recordings

Postby Muppets4 » Sun May 21, 2017 10:00 pm

Yesterday I had to update the server to be able to use the new Viewer. I just the update.bat file in the directory. Yesterday I checked Live TV and it was working. Today I wanted to watch a recording. But all recordings are gone. In both the Viewer app and the website. Also the complete schedule is gone.

I just checked the settings. Somehow my recording path was set to the C:\ while my recordings are in I:\recordings. After I corrected that, no recording shows. My schedule is still gone too. The files are there.

This is a mayor problem for me. I hope you will be able to help me out. The wive comes home tomorrow and I'm not eager to tell her what happened (:

EDIT: it seemed that my server decided to run the anniversary update. As mentioned here viewtopic.php?f=102&t=31523 it can happen that the database is renamed. That happened overhere too. Renaming did the trick. Still strange these kinda things happen.....but glad I was able to solve it.

Really, during the windows Update, such issue could happen. For some reason Windows makes a copy or database file.

I can understand that sometimes these things happen. But what I cannot understand is that there is no mention of it on the site, other then tucked away on page 3 of the forum.

Don't blame Windows Update. Blame the no-resiliency of the DVBlogic database design. Brace yourself because this will happen again and again and there is no indication of a fix coming our way :(

It's a pain in the A.. indeed.....

DVBLogic has incorperated the RED exclamation mark icon for notifications, why not expand that with information about a sudden change of the set recording path, or better in Win10, send that info to the Win10 notification center :!:

That's like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted

Much better to redesign the whole recording store.

So true :)

But Rome was not build in one day and a complete redesign is quite a challenge for existing installations.

Incorparating a message warning system, should be a fine start where I can live with :)

Yes, I held off the latest windows feature update until now, but expecting to have to rename the .db file back sometime soon...
