some general questions (transcoding and descrambling)

Postby speedy » Mon Oct 31, 2016 1:09 pm

hey guys

just some general questions:

1. transcoding 1
i read on the website: "Audio/video transcoding functionality, available on per channel basis, with configurable transcoding bitrate. Transcoded stream codecs: h264 (video) and AAC (audio)"
- What exactly is meant by "on per channel basis"?
- and how can i do this?

2. transcoding 2
i read: "ffmpeg on all x86 platforms (Windows, Ubuntu, NAS, MacOS) supports h265"
- where exactly do i select/set this?

3. transcoding 3
i read somewhere on http://dvblogic.com (changelog?) that all languages/audio tracks are now taken into the transcoding stream
- where and ho do i select the audio channels for transcoding?

4. descrambling
i read somewhere in http://dvblogic.com that i can descramble channels.. or that they can be streamed?
- how do i decrypt the channels? (on the server or on the client.. however the features is implemented)

thanks :)

You have confused up a few things))

1. transcoding 1
i read on the website: "Audio/video transcoding functionality, available on per channel basis, with configurable transcoding bitrate. Transcoded stream codecs: h264 (video) and AAC (audio)"
- What exactly is meant by "on per channel basis"?
- and how can i do this?

It is available only for the IPTVServer. There you may set a transcoding option for all channels, or for separate channels.
For all other things you may set (at the client or in the Source Settings - for IPTVSource ) a general transcoding option for all channels.
2. transcoding 2
i read: "ffmpeg on all x86 platforms (Windows, Ubuntu, NAS, MacOS) supports h265"
- where exactly do i select/set this?

You do not need set any settings for that. All that should be done by server by default.
3. transcoding 3
i read somewhere on http://dvblogic.com (changelog?) that all languages/audio tracks are now taken into the transcoding stream
- where and ho do i select the audio channels for transcoding?

It is for the SendTo function.

4. descrambling
i read somewhere in http://dvblogic.com that i can descramble channels.. or that they can be streamed?
- how do i decrypt the channels? (on the server or on the client.. however the features is implemented)

You need tuner/receiver with the CI and supported CAM, or if your server on the Windows PC, then you may use the Plugins (Acamd/cccam ...) - but it is a bit separate topic. You may look for more information about that in this forum or at the Google search.
NETGEAR RNDU2000; Synology DS112j, DS 212j, DS213+, DS 712+; Western Digital WD ex2; Asustor AS3, RPI2 ...
