Server not working after update to latest build

Postby Videonisse » Fri Feb 26, 2016 12:09 pm

Last weekend I updated my Windows setup of DVBLink 5.5 to latest build and since then DVBLink doesn't start properly. The web GUI doesn't work at all and I can't either get a working stream from WMC. Today I again run an update with latest builds from you homepage, see versions installed below. Same problem remains.

Can you help my analyze the logs what's wrong?

What version of the Windows do you have?
Also be sure that the 39876,8100,8101 ports are not busy by someone else in your system.

It's Win 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit with all latest updates. The network ports are only used by DVBLink Server. Firewall is also currently deactivated (ZoneAlarm).

As you can also see in my footer, I'm using WMC with mc_recorder.

What else can I check?

I think that update overwrites mc_recorder in settings file. You need to stop dvblink server and edit it again.

I have already done that, I removed the extra dlrecorder lines. (copy of the config file is in the zip)

try next steps:
- stop the DVBLink server service
- open the command line (Win + R - > enter the "cmd" ->Enter)
- in the command line execute next:
Code: Select all
telnet 127.0.0.1 8100

If the command returns an error, then the port is closed. If, however, the screen will prompt the server (or the window will be completely empty), the port is open.
(the same thing you can try to do with the 39876 port, in order to be sure that the port is busy or not )

Also stop the server and scan all ports:
- in the command line:
Code: Select all
netstat -an

It will show you Listening / Established ports.

I don't have telnet installed in my Windows install, but tested the netstat -ano command and doesn't have any of the ports active when dvblink server isn't started.

When I try to start dvblink server below ports get active - but still lack port 8100 and Windows doesn't recognize the service as started (it says "Starting").

Can you give me a download link for a previous build of 5.5 for Windows so I can test it?

[Solved] Re: Server not working after update to latest build

Postby Videonisse » Fri Feb 26, 2016 11:02 pm

Issue solved, it was the FW. ZoneAlarm PRO Antivirus + Firewall version 14.1.048.000 somehow doesn't work with DVBLink and partly locks the network ports. Previous version 14.1.011.000 works without issues.

It wasn't enough to disable the FW and AV or exit ZoneAlarm or kill all the running ZA services - I had to deinstall ZA to discover it was the cause :x

So problem wasn't DVBLink but a firewall update. Thanks anyway for the support :)
