Server hangs frequently

Postby testedandbaked » Wed Dec 02, 2015 2:06 am

I've just installed (and reinstalled after wiping directory) DVBLink server with the TVSource plugin. If I access any server webpage after having left the server alone for more than ~10 minutes, it seems to hang for about 3 minutes before showing the webpage. If I attempt to tune in using WMC either on the server or on a client before I access the webpage to "unhang" it, it inevitably shows the PlayReady (No signal?) error.
However, once the web interface is responsive, everything works as normal again. This hang occurs even if a channel has been tuned in and is streaming. The symptoms show up on the next channel change.

Somewhat related is that the server times out on rebooting the computer even when ServicesPipeTimeout (registry entry to set service startup timeout) is set to 60s instead of 30s. This is an abnormally long time to start a service and occurs consistently on boot. Setting it to 300s resolves this, however I believe this and the issue above are related.

I am running on Windows 7 SP1, with the latest DVBLink Server (5.5.0 11998) and TVSource plugin (5.5.0 11904, on trial)
The Extended Info logs are attached. The last access to the server was around 11:40 am on 2 December 2015

Do you have any antiviruses or firewall? If yes, please, disable all protection, restart dvblink server and try to reproduce the issue once more.
Also, maybe you do have some other specific software(some servers or so) which lead to collisions ...

Thanks for the reply. No other AV installed and Windows Defender is disabled. Firewall is also disabled as it is a dedicated HTPC. The only other server running on it is Emby server (port 8096) and Teamviewer (port 80). If it is relevant, the dual tuner I'm using is a Sony PlayTV (DiBcom STK7070PD chipset) with EyeTV diversity drivers (standard BGA) that tunes flawlessly otherwise.

Can you disable(disconnect) tuners, restart dvblink server and observe the behaviour of server.
Or even, make dvblink configuration backup file, delete all TV Sources, restart server. Just to be sure that it's not influence of tuners (tuner drivers )

I've tested the following:
TVSource installed with channels assigned to tuners (hangs occur)
TVSource installed without adding any tuners/channels (hangs occur)
TVSource installed with tuner unplugged, thereby eliminating the tuner as the problem source (hangs occur)
TVSource uninstalled (hangs do not occur)

It would seem the TVSource plugin itself is the root of the problem. The logs are not providing useful information. No idea how to further proceed from here.

Good tests. It could be that the TVSource was installed with some issues or so. Try just to reinstall TVSource (or even dvblink server at first) and observe the behaviour.
And as i understand there are no Sony PlayTV drivers for windows , but only drivers from EyeTV diversity.
