Replaced Dual DVB-T with Quad DVB-T Now no OTA EPG available

Postby veletron » Fri Nov 06, 2015 6:28 pm

Hi

So I bought me a new tuner card, which setup OK, apart from the fact that I now have no OTA EPG. This worked fine on the old tuner card. I dont use it for many channels - only those for which digiguide has no content.

- In Channels-->EPG Sources, DigiGuide is the only source listed
- In Sources-->EPG Sources, there is no way to add an OTA EPG to the list
- In Sources-->TV Sources (Spanner on Source 1)-->Edit Advanced Settings-->EPG Scan--> The EIT DVB Scanner is shown as 'active'. If I double click it, select mapped channels --> Scan completes instantly (< 0.5sec), Nothing is found.

I believe that the EPG scanner has gotten stuck scanning the EPG from the now removed old Dual channel DVB-T card. How can I get DVBLink server to scan EPG data from a source on the new card?

Live TV Plays fine through web interface and MCE. If I goto the TV Source 1 --> Edit Advanced Settings --> Signal, and select one of my transponders (all of which contain channels), and choose 'Tune' then I get an error 'Error while tuning: IDS_TUNING_FAILED' Again, this is likely due to DVBLink trying to use a card that has been removed for tuning.

TVSource-1 IDX4
TVSource-2 IDX3
TVSource-3 IDX4
TVSource-4 IDX2

I tried renaming the sources 2-5 to no avail, the first one never gets used. When 3 sources are in use (TV Source 2-4) and I try to view another channel on a different mux, I get a message on MCE - all tuners in use.

NB: I removed the TV Sources for the old card, and then renamed the new card TV Source 1-4 (they were 3-6). I dont think I have done anything wrong - rather I have just uncovered a quirk in the software.

NB2: Just started a whole load of streams from various devices, only Sources2-4 ever get used, no streams ever get served up with tvsource-1 as the source. I think this is the root of the problem. I have no reason to believe that there is anything wrong with the card - I still believe that DVBLink is trying to serve up content from TV-Source-1 from the now non existant card that used to be called TVsource1 and 2.

Many Thanks,

Nigel

Please, give a full name of new Tuner (or link for it) and make a screenshot of TV Source tab.
Also, set log level to info, restart dvblink server, wait up to 20 minutes and attach zipped log file here.

Hi

Tuner is a TBS6205 - http://www.tbsdtv.com/ It replaced a previous DBS dual card. http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/TBS6205 -- NB: I am using windows. http://www.tbsdtv.com/download

TV Sources are 2-5 now, I tried to rename tvsource-2 back to tvsource-1 but it would not 'take' kept reverting to tvsource-2.

logs attatched shows that DVBLink cannot load the driver for the master source tvsource-2

Thanks for your time. If all else fails, I guess I will just reinstall/reconfig

Check if all tuners are present in the list at device manager.
And you can try to make next steps:
- make a back up of dvblink settings
- delete master source (TV Source 2 in your case)
- restart dvblink server
- try to add this source again

Right, bit further forward:

- Do as 'the man' suggested above, but unable to delete tvsource-2
- Stop service
- Goto C:\Program Files (x86)\DVBLogic\DVBLink\sources and delete the folders tvsource-1 and tvsource-2
- start service
- restore backup
- restart service

Can now 'Tune' a mux in advanced settings, TVSource-2

Unfortunately, OTA eitscanner still not visible under either Sources-->EPG Sources, or Channels-->EPG Sources. Will give it a few mins and go check the logs - see if it got the EPG OTA

So, after waiting a while, I look at the logs, see end of post.

Looks like it has managed to pull OTA EPG. Unfortunately, EITScanner not listed under EPG sources so the EPG cannot be assigned. It would have been quick to reinstall, I guess, but I suspect that replacing a tuner card is a relatively common deed so DVBLink should really support this in a seamless manner.

EDIT: TVSource-3 just turned up as EPG Source and I can assign channels. The odd behaviour below needs investigating though - I wonder if this is related to viewing the sources while behind the scenes, the master source is being used to get the EPG...

Also, odd behaviour that might explain the initial issue (seen on 2-channel and 4-channel DVB-T cards). The 1st (master) TV source often 'looses' its attached tuner, The tuner appears in the list as unassigned. I then click the 'assign' option on unassigned TV source, and choose the tuner once more, this then appears underneath the TV-Source as 'internal-dvblink-blah-ifx0' (cant remember the exact string). Simply visiting the TV sources page is enough to cause this to occur (all the other tuners remain assigned). Deleting the 'Internal-dvblink-blah' item causes the 1st TV source to return to its prev state as per jpg in 3rd post this thread. Unfortunately, this tvsource is dead - no possibility to tune a mux manually, no possibility to obtain an EPG or to use the source for serving up live TV. The only way to avoid tripping over this issue is to tread carefully, never visiting the 'sources' tab once DVBLink is up and running.

I think you have a bug in the assignment stuff that causes it to forget which tuners are assigned to which sources.

The situation that you have discribed, make me think that the issue with drivers or with hardware
( even if device disabled/disconnected from PC and connected again in the same slot/usb, dvblink remembers all ids and assigns all TV Sources to available tuners, but due to the driver or hardware issue, if one tuners disconnects and connects againe , it can be recognised as new device )

You can make a backup of dvblink settings, than make a full reinstall to eleminate all issu with incorrect settings or so, and start all from scratch.
If the same issue will appear, it would be good to look at your log files once more. Also you can test tuner with other software.

Postby veletron » Tue Nov 10, 2015 11:02 am

Hi

I am currently working OK, so I would rather not touch it while its working! It does the same thing with my two TBS cards - (looses tvsource to tuner mapping), I dont have another card to try. The loss of the mapping only appears to occur when I visit the tvsource page a few times.

I was able to get 4 streams running via 4 different Mux and see all 4 tv sources in use last night. It appeared to be stable. Will keep an eye on it, ditto update of the OTA epg once currently pulled listings expire.

Thanks your help on this and my other issues!
