hey guys,

so, here the outcome of yesterdays tests:

test 1) streaming from dvblink server using dvblink client in kodi with NO transcodung:
- works very smooth!
-> error scenario 1) and error scenario 2) (from initial post) seam not to happen at all!

test 2) setting priorities to high (as suggested from @djkahn)

- accessing the dvblink server over its web-interface and going to "settings" the "service priority" was already set to "high"
--> no changes performed for the test

- setting tv source service to high priority over taskmanager
--> did no service for the tv source: no changes performed for the test
probably it makes sense, since my dreambox is an external source
also by googling your "duoflex s2": this is an internal card.. which then probably has a service

- setting "ffmpeg.exe*32" process set to high
-- since this process is the only one that was using CPU on the server i set this one to "high"
outcome:
- first switch (english tv show to german commercial) worked!!!!!!!
- second switch (next english tv show to german commercial) did not work again :(
i went to check the process: for some reason it was set back to "normal"

.... after that i ran out of time .. it takes quite some time to watch a whole show just to get a commercial break :)

but i think we know at leat now: it is the server, which is causing problems with transcoded streams

disappointing update: setting "ffmpeg.exe*32" process set to high does NOT solve the problem

of course the process lost in the previous post the high priority:
  • when the stream is stopped, the process is gone.
  • when restarting the stream, the process is restarted as normal again
this riddle is solved.

so,i tried once more to set it to high and to stream: when the US show was finished, it freezed again
  • the client was in state "buffering" (as usual, when this happens), but the buffering process did nod proceed
...meanwhile watching the server's "ffmpeg.exe*32" process
  • the process was still "high" and running
  • the memory was filling up and up .. like there would be a congestion

seeing this.. i would guess now the kodi client has an issue with the switch
(and not the server as i mentioned in the previous post)
... but it's just my guess :)

but.. i think the quickly changed transcoded stream would explain both mentioned error scenarios.. and the kodi client just can^t handle it .. maybe

An update,

Well i'm quite dissapointed I had to restart my server, and i am back to square one.
All the artefacts are back.
The next thing on my list is an instalation of Dvblink in a vm under Ubuntu.
Maybee this wil solve the problems.

hi,

back from holidays :)

.. no i haven't tried ..

questions about DVBLink server Beta V6:
- how stable is it? (what other issues can i expect?)
- how does it work with my licenses? (like also afterwards, if i want to downgrade back or upgrade to the final release)

however, now i am experiencing on more channels the behavior as described in error scenario 1 (e.g. discovery hd)
... and it's definitively an error on the server side since it is happening with all clients i am trying: (ios client, kodi (15 + 16) clients)

cheers

hi,

i am a bit scared to try it ... just read all the topics in the beta forum there..

however, how would i back my current installation up?
and how would i restore this backup, if beta 6 is terrible?

cheers

The backup file is compatible with the V5 and V6, so all your current settings could be restored. Just make backup of DVBLink settings and some other backups (for plugins if you use any)

after reading all the posts to beta 1 .. i think i will wait to see how beta 2 will be doing .. before i try it ..
too scary to mess up all my installation .. but i really want to try it to see if the freezes and crashes still occur
(which def still happens on the mentioned channels all the time in the 5.5er version)
