Live TV Freezes

Postby AndyLDay » Mon Aug 03, 2015 10:03 am

Windows 7 Ultimate PC, TBS 6982 DVBS/S2 Tuner. Running DVB Link Server 5.5.0 11766, DVB Link TV Advisor 5.5.0 11766, DVB Link Source 5.5.0 11787

Viewing live TV selected from the programme guide, the screen freezes a few seconds to 10 minutes after selection (totally variable). This occurs for any channel (I have tried many). I have waited for the screen to start again (thinking it may be a buffering problem) but it never does. I have to close that view and restart it, whereupon I have the same issue.

Windows Media Center does not have the same problem

Web UI interface uses video transcoding by default. Apparently your system is not powerful enough to do video transcoding.
Please turn it off in the TVF Guide -> Settings -> Web Streaming. When transcdoing is turned off, system will download an m3u file with a direct live TV stream link, which you can play in (for example) VLC.

My system has an i3 processor with 4G Ram and is not doing much else, so should be powerful enough !!!!!

Why do you want me to use another program to play the recorded programs, recorded through your software?

If you try to play back HD channels, then even your i3 may be not powerful enough to do video transcoding. Please check what the CPU utilization is during web interface playback.
As for VLC - DVBLink does not provide any players on its own, but offers integration with several players. For web interface - it is either transcoded playback in a browser or VLC. You can use alternatively either MediaCenter or Kodi or mobile apps.
