No playback from Windows Client

Postby Ben51 » Thu Jun 08, 2017 10:38 am

I use a Synology server with DVBLink server software. Viewing tv and playback of recorded tv from IOS and Android apps works ok.
But with the Windows Viewer client I cannot view or playback. When I click a view button to see live tv, nothing happens.
When I click on a view button to see recorded tv a new browser window opens with a view of the program guide, or a download windows open thats wants to download a "download.m3u" file.
How can I watch tv or recorded tv on my windows pc?

Regards,
Ben

In the DVBLink viewer, check whether you have set the 8100 port.
- go To Guide tab, (TV and Media Library)
- on the left-down corner click on the IP of the server
- in the appeared pop-up enter the ip of the server / 39876 port / 8100 port (for instance: 192.168.1.11/39876/8100)
- save and connect

Then try to play the channels once more
Results?

Also you may use the Kodi with DVBlink PVR Addon/ VLC Player / DLNA client ...

Or he is using the latest DVBLink Viewer, which can't handle an outdated DVBLink Server install ;)

Update your DVBLink Server install Ben51 to the latest version, because not seeing the ip in the Viewer indicates you are using an outdated version of the DVBLink Server. The new Viewer only works with the latest DVBLink Server.....

I have the latest version of the DVBLink Server installed on my Synology NAS (v 6.0.0).
By the way: I can view channels using VLC, I found that out.

Bit curious that I bought a new DVBLogic Butler tuner, bought and installed the lastest version of DVBLink TVSource 6.0.0 [Synology NAS - ARM (Marvell Armada XP)], installed the latest version of the DVBLink Server available for Synology, use the latest version of the viewer available and that does not work together. That's not what I want as a customer.

The only thing Kodi does with the DVBLink PVR Addon (Kodi states this Addon as instable) is this:

You are really have the latest version of server but not the latest build. The Synology makes an update of third party application once in 6/12 month, so you can imagine how old build of server could be used on your NAS.
Best way it to make a manual update of the dvblink server. Just download the dvblink*.spk file from the dvblogic.com and upload it in the Synology package center (before that allow a third party developers in the package center settings)

I am not a nerd and am not going to upload software that is not provided by Synology.
Its all your software, so simply provide me with a version of DVBLink viewer that works with this version/build on my Synology server.
If you yourself know that software on a NAS is not frequently updated, than I would expect you to provide compatible versions of your other software for download on your site.
I paid you for TVSource software, a TVButler stick, so some service would be nice.

Regards,
Ben.

Bit strange reaction. A solution is offered, but you only want it through Synology. Who is responsible for your update? Synology or dvblogic?

It is a solution of course, but not the one I wish. I want to keep my Synology sound, so I only use the packages that Synology offer. And I do not want to give Synology any reason do deny service because I installed a package that they did not distribute themselves. For me Synology is responsible to keep my NAS consistent and up and running.
Here they complain that Synology is slow in updating packages. I am not an expert in that field, but I get packages updated every week. Could it be that Synology does not update DVBLink because they offer package version 6.0.0 and the most recent version from DVBLogic is still 6.0.0? Nothing happened if you look at version numbering.
I am glad I bought the DVBLogic source software and their TVButler stick. Works great. But I am a simple straight forward costumer that just wants to install software with normal procedures and who does not understand that a tv server with version 6.0.0, a tv source package with version 6.0.0 and viewer software with version 6.0.0 do not work together.
I may have to imply the solution offered, but I think that DVBLogic could do better on version numbering, consistency and service to Synology users that want to work with normal standard implemented software.

Ben
