DVB Viewer stuttering audio

Postby Thun » Sat Aug 06, 2016 1:05 am

I have a problem with stuttering audio when viewing certain channels live. From what I can see, it's connected with this type audio "Joint stereo - Intensity Stereo + MS Stereo" but only when its live viewing, I have no problem when viewing a recorded file.
My audio device is "Sound BlasterX G5" Funny thing is, that before I got that, I used to use the motherboards onboard realtek audio, and iirc I did not have a problem then, so im not sure where the problem lies :?:

How may audio tracks there on this channel ( stream) ? If a few, have you tried to switch to another track during the playback of the issue?

It is really looks like some driver issues.
Please , make a record of this channel and then open it in the VLC directly - results?

- install and launch the VLC player and press the combination Ctrl+N
- in the "Please, enter a Network URL" enter:http://ip-of-your-server:8100/mobile/?command=get_recordedtv_m3u
- start to play this rec ...

Okay, I did some more testing.

Playing back a recorded file works with every thing, VLC, MPC, iOS app, TvOS, DVBLink Viewer

Watching the channel live (streaming) works with VLC, MPC, iOS app, BUT NOT with TvOS, DVBLink Viewer

I also tried swapping audio device, motherboard onboard Realtek audio and HDMI from the graphic card, got same audio problem with both, and I also tried watching from my brothers house with DVBLink Viewer, and I get the same problem there.

It seems too me that DVBLink Viewer and TvOS somehow handels a live stream differently than a recorded file from the same channel.

Kind regards Thun

I too have a similar problem, Viewer (6.0.0) on Windows (8.1), server on Synology NAS, HD HomeRun tuners (ATSC). Most channels work just fine, some have very faint stuttering, others stutter on a very repeatable pattern every few seconds. Others have no audio at all on either the audio track (English and Spanish). On other channels, I find no audio on the English track and English audio on the Spanish track. All these channels play fine with VLC, either off the HDHomeRun channel browser or off the web interface and streaming port. No real pattern to the channels with issues, some HD channels have the mixed audio track issue, the worst stuttering channels are a few of the SD channels. I see no reception errors and have tried using all 4 tuners off my pair of HD HomeRuns with the same results.
I also tried the viewer on a 2nd Win8.1 PC and get similar stuttering, although slightly less, on some of the affected channels.

After removing and reinstalling the viewer, all seems to be working OK now on most of the channels. But I still have a stuttering issue on one channel for sure. I'm going to try recording a program off that channel to see if it shows up in the recording as well.

Update: The recorded program off that channel plays back fine with the viewer, so it only seems to be the live playback. I have transcoding turned off.
