Amazon FireTV Audio Passthrough not working

Hello,

I'm currently testing the DVBLink Server together with my Amazon Fire TV and first would like to thank you for this app. Great decision to release it for this device!

Although it's a great app for Version 1.0.1(8), I have a little to remark: I can't get Audio Passthrough to work. My AVR is a Yamaha RX-V475, which is definitely able to play Dolby Digital (+) and all this fancy audio formats, but when I switch to a programme that broadcasts in DD the Yamaha shows PCM. This indicates that the DVBLink Theatre App sends a pre-setted audio channels.

Is Audio Passthrough not yet supported? Or is something wrong with my configuration?

Best,
H.

The Audio Passthrough is supported. Do channels you have tested with have a appropriate audio tracks?

Thanks for your answer.

I'm trying to passthrough on my AFTV 1st Gen via HDMI and face this issue with several German Broadcasting Stations like:
    Das Erste HD
    ZDF HD
    Arte HD
    ServusTV HD
    ...

My Provider is Wilhelm.Tel in Hamburg, Germany.

Do you use a transcoding function? I mean is the Live TV stream in original quality or transcoded?

The signal of the mentioned services is directly from Source - no transcoding.

The scheme is like this: DVB-C Signal -> Digital Devices Cine C/T -> DVBLink Server on Ubuntu 14.04.5 -> Fire TV

I also have some channels which are transcoded in AAC. AAC seems to be completely unsupported, since it outputs no sound at all, no matter if passthrough is activated or not.

The "Amazon FireTV Audio Passthrough" issue is added in the todo list. We will check what we may do here.

PS. Please, install the VLC player, open the DVBlink DLNA server , start any channels and try to enable Audio Passthrough - results?

So, I installed VLC for Fire Version 2.0.6 yesterday but when I start the App and navigate to 'Local Network' -> 'DVBLink DLNA TV Server' -> 'TV Channels' it shows me "Directory empty".
Am I doing something wrong? Additionally, I cant find any option to enable audio passthrough within VLC.

___Update:
Now, I managed to export an .m3u file by using http://IP:8100/mobile/?command=get_playlist_m3u and uploaded it to my FireTV. I then started the file and managed to get the stream to work, but same here as with the DVBLink Theatre App: no matter which Audio I choose, it's pre-processed by the ATV and arrives at PCM at my AV-receiver. AAC is completely unsupported.

Try to reboot/restart the server and the client, then try once more.
The passthrough feature is available during the playback.

I rebooted both, but nothing changes - the DVBLink DLNA TV Server channel directory stays empty.

Is it possible for you to install the server on the desktop (with the trial license) and check the previous scenario?

That's gonna be tough, since I only have the server and a notebook which are both setup with Ubuntu and I wont be able to put the PCIe DVB-C card into the laptop.. What's the idea behind it?

Can you try playing back a recording instead of live tv?

I watched a Recording with the DVBLink Theatre app which was originally sended in AAC. The sound works, but it's still pre-processed.
With the VLC app I face the same problem as with the channels: an empty directory. Could it be a permission problem?

I also tested the server together with Kodi and Dolby works on this plattform, so it shouldn't be a server problem.
