Audio Problems With Theatre App

Postby DVBlinkfann » Sat Jul 16, 2016 2:09 pm

Hi, I'm using the theatre app on my android shield and the picture quality is fine but the audio is delayed by 2 seconds on all HD channels. i receive my channels via tv source and a dvbs2 card, there is no audio delay in windows nor in kodi on the shield. all channels have a second audio stream for the blind and dvblink has always defaulted to this one first, even when opening the stream through vlc. the second track is labelled NAR. when i change to the proper DD ENG audio stream i get a 2 second delay. i see a global optio to delay audio was implemented in the live channels app but it sounds like the theatre app is not handling channels with dual audio streams properly. The audio is 2 seconds ahead of the video.

regards!

Does it happen only with LiveTV or with the Recordings as well?

It would be nice to get some short recording of channel with this issue. In order to reproduce the issue.
Is it possible for you to provide some?

Absolutely, i am in the UK and receive my programming via freesat and a dvbs2 quad card. i recorded the attached from BBC1 and BBC1 HD, its the same program so hopefully this is a good comparison. both recordings will have 2 audio streams an MP2 NAR track and either MP2 ENG or AC3 ENG depending if its HD or not. You should see the audio lead the video by about 2 seconds on the HD recording AC3/DD audio track. i see this in the native android tv player, the dvblogic theater app (not sure if this uses the native player) and vlc, all on android. but not kodi on android or any player on windows.

happy to supply any further examples! thanks!

We have made some improvements in this thread, and in our test lab, both your recordings work like they should.
So, i do not sure if the issue were related to the player build or to the device, as at the moment tests were conducted on the Amazon FireTV (Android TV as well)

hi! hopefully we're getting close to it. i also got my fire tv out and hooked it up to the avr and tried out the theatre app. the problem is you can't enable audio pass through on the fire tv and its this option where the problem is located. if i try and enable passthrough on the fire tv the menu just exits back to the guide.

i also don't see any sync issues on the fire tv with passthrough off, nor on the shield with passthrough off. but then i dont get the full DD audio.

so, 2 issues. i think passthrough should also work on the fire tv, in the fire tv set up i have enabled hdmi with DD+ and my AVR supports this.

secondly there seems to be an audio delay on ac3 audio streams when passthrough is enabled.

hope this helps and let me know if i can provide any more info!

Hi, is there any more info I can provide you with to help track this down?

Are you seeing the problems I am reporting? Does pass through work for anyone on the fire tv?

Thanks for the help!

Work in progress - as it turned out the issue much deeper that i thought - it is all about the codecs/player libraries ... and it is hard to say what we can do there. Anyway we are in touch with this.

hi, understanding that this is in progress, i wonder whether you could expand on where the issue is to help me with a workaround in the interim? is this a server side issue or with the app? i've been trying other apps using dvblink server with mixed results and i'm trying to work out why that is. cheers!
