I was eager to find out and found in the release notes that they from v1.5 increased buffer to 8GB. So it's actually local on the disc at ATV4.

65 minutes now, still caching on... I think it can be said that there is enough space for caching...

How do you measure? You just put it on pause and wait? If you did, try to resume playback to see if the content was actually stored all this time. One hour of HD channel is approx. 4-5 GB. There is no magic, it has to be found somewhere - either in ram or in flash.

I measured by putting on a HD channel and after 80+ minutes i was still able to go back to the moment i turned on the channel and view the program from beginning. There is no magic, they just cache the stream to flash I think...

Dammit, my Server Trial expired again. Any schedule for updates to Theatre app?

Btw, Channels had a beta that was updated daily and had a lot of users giving feedback. They got out a polished product in a few weeks...

I mean are you planning to update it with fixes and features or not?

I'm guessing there are no updates coming to ATV4 client since you don't answer on forums.

I guess I'll just have to stick with Channels and wait for EyeTV or someone else to come up with a decent PVR... :(

The new update with some improvements should be soon.

After a few days with the ATV4 app I'm really impressed. I have, however, one issue and one question -

- When selecting live TV from a program name in the main area of the EPG and then hitting the play button, is it not possible to then change to another channel in the same way as if you start live TV from the channel column in the EPG. You have to go back to the EPG page first.

- Is it still possible to force DVBLink to record in Media Center (.wtv) format? I found a suggestion to change dlrecorder for mc_recorder in the configuration file but it seems to stop the server working. Is this still possible and how?

It is by design.

It is supported but not recommended, since the Windows 10 is no longer support the WMC, there is muck less testings with the mc_recorder and the DVBLink server - clients. Also if you will use the mc_recorder db, the recordings will be displayed only on the WMC.

Ok if the lack of channel switching is by design, not sure if I understand why though.

Regarding WMC format - I'm running on a W7 machine so I have WMC running as before. I normally use Plex to view recorded TV remotely (and WMC locally) so this set up would work just fine for me. However, when I changed all instances of 'dlrecorder' to 'mc_recorder' in the configuration file, the Android client app got a general server error. I guess this reflects what you are saying about less testing. I'll try again and see if I can get it working, maybe with other clients.

Hi

Will we see top shelf support on the ATV app?

I think that would be the icing on the cake!
